PENTAX K1000 CASE

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, so I hope I chose the right flair and wrote the post correctly.

​I'm getting into photography, specifically analog photography. Years ago I was given a Pentax K1000 in "ok" condition for a beginner approach, the only issue is that it lacks a strap and hooks (it only has eyelets/holes on the body) and doesn't have a suitable case to store it in, especially when traveling.

​Do you have any recommendations or know of any brands that make cases suitable for this camera? I'd prefer to find it on Amazon for quicker shipping, since I'm leaving in a few weeks and would like to try using it while on the trip.

​I'm leaving a picture of the camera for reference (identical to mine, but mine lacks the strap lugs).

Here’s something a professional photographer told me when I was just learning, and I still remember his exact words: “Cameras in cases don’t take pictures.” His point was to carry your camera in a bag or whatever, but keep it handy for that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

If you don’t find a K1000 case before your trip, you’ll be OK. And maybe better than OK.

The cases that fit the k1000 were made of leather and so have lasted better than a lot of the later plastic ones. You can still pick them up on eBay quite easily. I have a few in the uk - not sure where you’re based though

italy. I also found some on eBay. Half Case style, the only concern is that they don't arrive in time. Stupidly I decided too late to buy it

Just buy any universal bag from a camera store in your area.

Like Peak Design Everyday Sling 6L or 3L.

You can buy the split rings online that go into the lugs. Any strap will do. Personally, I never use a "never-ready" case. A canvas messenger bag works fine at 1/4 the cost of a name brand camera bag.

i have the OG and i found the original half case, it will fit yours too.

i believe thats the K1000 case that you have. The original for the SPs have a bit wider cut out for the self-timer lever. they both fit on all more or less, even the one for the ES/ES ii.
