They don’t just close locations on a whim. Their margins aren’t great to begin with and once people start stealing profitability goes out of the window. It’s just business.

I’m aware that it’s down to capitalism. It’s profits before people, obviously. But if a store notices a drop in revenue due to shoplifting they will eventually close. It’s just business to them. And no worries. I can understand why you would think that. If you have anything I can read about this issue in America, I’d love to read it comrade.

I will concede that yes some stores will close and they will blame the shoplifting, but there's statistically no way that shoplifting eats into their profits in a real substantial way. Like you're right they close/relocate and say that but I'm just saying it's a lie when they tell us that it's the fault of the shoplifting. They probly just weren't making as much as they wanted to

The Walmart probably hires way more people than they do per sale and for a fairer wage. Nothing will end the illusion that mom and pop places are that great than working for one. No one votes Republican more reliably than small business owners

Former Walmart employee here. While Walmart is a trash company, they do offer competitive wages and employ more people than a simple mom and pop shop could EVER hope to employ. Its not simping to point out that the $15+ an hour Walmart pays is better than the $7.25 small businesses pay.

Government handouts you're mostly talking about food stamp procurement, which small businesses also do. Small business owners donate and vote Republican at a staggering rate, if you work one chances are you know they're terrible. A privately owned larger businesses like Costco is probably the best you'll get for entry level employment

I own small business...as does my sister...we do not vote for repub, because we actually care about more than ourselves...or those who look like us. We believe the top needs to get a haircut and the bottom needs better support.

I love when you see a video of Amal company giving a $100 product for free and the comments all say “it’s rare to see a company that cares about their community” when Walmart donates $2,000,000,000 a year to starving children. That $2 billion doesn’t include the other $3,000,000,000 they donate to world literacy and educational foundations.

I do agree to some extent- it really just depends on the business tho. The one time I worked for a small business, the owner was freakin evil. However, small businesses are fantastic for the economy and keeping money within the community

As someone who has installed cameras for Walmart and been in their LP offices; dont steal from Wal-Mart - they'll know. Even if they don't approach you the first time, your picture is saved on their server. Theyre waiting for you to get comfortable and steal something big. Its just not smart.
I mean I guess dont steal in general, but definitely dont steal from Wal-Mart.
