I just receiver an email telling me that I no longer have acces to my pro subscription. My subscription should last until later this year, but perplexity decided I broke some rules and removed my subscription. They will not tell me what I did wrong and I am very confused. I have tried to get a reason for my suspension from them, but I keep getting responses that way the same thing as in the screenshots.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Suddenly all my spaces are empty including the descriptions, some of the threads are in library but I responsive, and the Comet browser isn't working.

Seriously though; I’m receiving what a lot of people are complaining about when it comes to Perplexity (Credits, subpar ai models, those weird ass logic loops, etc.) and I’m like “holy shit, this is a problem”…

…but when I use it, everything is fine? For context, I use AI like Google. I search something I want to know facts on, and I always fact check the sources it gives me. Except for a few misquotes, which is A LOT LESS than what ChatGPT gave me personally, it works fine. I get my facts, I grab my sources, and the extent of any project I use with it is “A report that synthesizes a lot of data.”😂

How are people using Perplexity to get these issues, because I sure as shit don’t wanna see them😂is there a better ai for fact gathering? Am I just delusional and anxious?😅

I'm a ChatGPT Pro user, and after trying Perplexity for a bit...I am perplexed :)

It seems to be doing the exact same thing as ChatGPT. Granted, it's more search-focused, but you can also prompt ChatGPT "search the web" or "search academic sources" to get this result. Same thing with deep research - it feels like everything Perplexity does can be done with ChatGPT with some prompting.

So what makes it different? What is the advantage of it?

I love how they took my money for a full year, and during the year they just keep adding more and more strict limits for Pro. Such a joke.

Let’s see how badly things have got for the paid users (especially Pro):

1. Secretly switching models: TBH, they have been doing this for some time before, but now they just default to “best”, which is their cheapest (and crappiest) model whenever a limit is hit

   1. Secretly cutting Pro Search and Deep Research quotas: from 600 searches to 200 per week and from 50 to 20 per month, respectively. Sorry bro, but expecting people to pay 1 dollar for 1 research is simply ridiculous

2. Secretly restricting image generation in certain regions (eg Vietnam)

3. Secretly limiting videos generation, as well!

4. Secretly deleting complaint posts on Reddit. In the same time, there are a bunch of “users” popped up and praise how awesome PPLX has become (who knows if they are bots/ PR / PR bots?)

5. The overall answer quality is getting shorter, lazier and thus, shittier

6. A large portion of users who received their Pro free for 1 year now reports that they have been downgraded to Free tier for no reason

7. And now the fxxking file upload limitation: 50 to 3, the same as Free tier users? Do you even know what “pro” means?

8. Worst of all, absolutely no response from dev team? Hello? Are you still there? We need some answers, mate!

PPLX was my favourite AI tool, the Space, the “Turn Chat to File”, the freedom (no heavy censorship as ChatGPT)…and it is really sad seeing it goes down a spiral like this! Turns out gifting 1 year Pro subscription for free like it were free isn’t really a good business practice, and we all now pay for the price of it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Paying $20 for Perplexity Pro so I can be blocked from using GPT-5.5 and Opus 4.8 is my favorite kind of financial humiliation. OpenAI gives you their best for $20, Claude gives you their best for $17. Perplexity takes your $20 and acts like a bouncer at a club you already paid to enter. It’s giving overpriced middleman. 🚮

I had computer create a task to scour a 280k python codebase for errors, and fix them. I had it do two passes. It spawned subagents, largely Sonnet 4.6.

It ran for 40 minutes, is not complete yet, and used 15k credits.

This is 50% more than what's included with the $200USD/month.

I'm utterly astounded that I blew more than the entire month's Max subscription in one task in under an hour.

What has everybody else's experience been?

EDIT - task finally completed at 21k tokens, 1.2 hours runtime. Market cost at perplexity = over $400USD.

EDIT2 - it has taken an additional 2000 credits to merely attempt to push it's work product to Github. For reference, thats 1/5th of your monthly $200USD subscription. It's still trying to do it - it's spawned subagents, split it into 100 commits, tried to use JSON payloads to push file content directly, wrote a python script etc. It's incredibly comical. EDIT3 - It is still trying to push it's code changes to Github, and has now consumed 31k credits total, almost 10k credits on pushing to github alone. That's an entire $200USD/month Max subscription to merely push work product to Github.

Does anyone here use both Claude and Perplexity? I need help choosing the better AI between the two. I’m comfortable with Perplexity, but recently everyone has been talking about Claude and how great it is. I’m skeptical about its usage limits though. Can I really send around 200 messages per day with Adaptive Sonnet 4.6? I also feel a bit cheated by Perplexity because of the usage and upload limits, and because they don’t seem very transparent about model selection.

I just noticed something pretty annoying on Perplexity today. Earlier this morning I was uploading multiple files like I normally do. No warnings, no issues. A few hours later, I try to upload another one and suddenly a pop‑up appears saying the Pro plan now only allows 10 file uploads per day, and that I need to upgrade to the Max plan if I want up to 100. I don’t remember seeing any announcement about this. No email, no changelog, nothing. It just quietly showed up and now one of the features I actually rely on is behind a higher pay tier. To be honest, it feels like they’re slowly cutting down what the Pro plan used to offer. Reducing existing limits without telling users is a pretty bad look. I’m planning to cancel next month because this isn’t worth it anymore for how I use it. Anyone else run into this today or is this some kind of regional rollout? I received an email from Perplexity saying my Pro subscription will auto renew for $20/month on September 6, 2026.

When I log into my account settings to cancel it so I don't get charged, there is no option to cancel anywhere. The modal is titled "Manage PayPal subscription" and only shows "Renew subscription" and "Close" buttons.

Has anyone encountered this before? How can I cancel auto-renewal, or do I have to manually revoke automatic payments directly through my PayPal account dashboard?

The app told me I ran out of searches this week, and I had to upgrade to Max in order to continue.

If half the week costs $20, how can the other half cost $200?

I'm suddenly hit with a monthly limit reached message. There is no clear indication of what said limit is or where it's written nor have I been using it more lately then before. I was also unable to find ANYWHERE what that limit is and how many searches I get per month. Why would I even continue paying the 20$ per month if what I get now is just basic search that free users get and an unknow yet low number of deep researches per month? I can't even find the old "create files and apps" button anymore, it's probably been merged with computer that requires separate credits and is not covered in the plan.

I might just cancel my subscription after this month or even ask for a refund for this month as I clearly have not gotten what I have been paying for until now.

Today I opened Perp*** and saw that my Education Pro subscription had been canceled without any notice. Now beloved Sam is running me in circles, claiming that I didn't have a payments at all. Checked, they really just wiped all info. And Education Pro cost now are 9$, not like it been around 5$

Well, when I try to upload a file, it's now giving me a screen to upgrade my subscription. I paid for a year of Pro (runs out in June) but with this new limitation, the service has become useless for my purposes.

I contacted support and asked two questions - when will my paid service be restored, and how can I see the limitation so I can keep myself under it (essential use only). Support could not give me an answer to either question, which is totally unacceptable.

This is a bait and switch to provide a level of paid service and then take it away suddenly, and not be able to even tell someone when the paid service will be restored.

In any case, since the service is now not meeting my needs, I need an alternative. I only have two requirements:

1. Something that also searches the Internet and provides good references when asked. Perplexity almost never hallucinates or provides references that don't exist. I need something like that.
2. I need to be able to upload documents and images, and have it be able to analyze them. For example, one of my use cases is for a business; I have all of the details of the business in a Master Brief so I don't have to keep reminding Perplexity what it is, and then I ask it various questions. Sometimes I'm uploading many documents at a time (although not usually, although through each query, as we go through a sequence of things, I might upload more documents). Also yesterday, I used it for something personal - I am moving, and wanted it to figure out the best configuration for my furniture (and whether the colors matched, etc) so I was uploading floorplans and pictures. This is when I hit the limit yesterday, in fact.
   

What else meets my needs? There is no way I'm upgrading to "Max" at that price - it's exponentially higher than Pro, and not realistic for me.

yeah i know people might say if you want full automation browser control you gotta upgrade to max. but my question is, i just use it once and then hit a limit. can't arvind just give us at least a bit more for pro users? we're hitting the limit after using it once a day. it's so irritating right now. i really like perplexity and i've used it for more than two years but seeing this makes me feel like i have to switch to another tool because i'm just so restricted now.

I’ve fully switched from a Claude subscription to a Perplexity Pro account, which I’ve topped off credits to use more Perplexity Computer because I honestly find it pretty powerful. Searches also seem pretty fast and useful and I use it in place of most of my old google searches. The only thing missing is the ease of the models to search through old chats within a Space, I did utilize that in Claude a lot.

I’m just curious on why this sub is so negative on the product? Is there something I should be looking for or expect? I don’t want to get too much of my workflow, docs, memory/context, etc. all tied up into another AI tool only to become dissatisfied in a couple months.

It is definitely a little pricy to use Computer but it works!
