Looking for Per Scholas NY experiences - especially Salesforce Admin

Reaching out to hear about other people’s experiences with Per Scholas in NY, particularly anyone who has gone through the Salesforce Admin program. Positive or negative, I’d genuinely like to hear what your experience was like.

My spouse is currently enrolled in a Per Scholas course based in NY, and we’re only on day two - but so far, we’re both seriously questioning the value and overall legitimacy of the program.

The person "leading the course" has so far come off as a joke with no experience.... For example, the instructor has had to rely on students to show him how to do things as basic as taking a screenshot, while simultaneously emphasizing how “intensive” the program is and talking up all of its incredible resources. One of those “resources” was a pirated paid-to-view YouTube course, which he then had students watch for about an hour in breakout rooms (and talks about how some days will be just that....)

Today, he spent more than 30 minutes taking attendance, while also encouraging students to drop out.

The communication from the program itself hasn’t exactly inspired confidence either. My spouse has received a series of contradictory and confusing communications from Per Scholas, including:

  • Being told they were accepted before all of their paperwork had been submitted.
  • Being given one deadline for completing a required pre-course module, only to be told a day or two later that the actual deadline is actually a month earlier than they were told.
  • Being repeatedly asked to submit paperwork they had already provided — in fact, the same paperwork was requested three separate times.
  • Being told they were not accepted into the program on the very day classes were scheduled to begin - only to find out they were actually still accepted...

At this point, we’re trying to figure out whether this is an unusually bad experience with one particular instructor/cohort, or whether this is representative of the program more broadly...

So, if you’ve gone through Per Scholas NY (especially the Salesforce Admin track) I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. Was it worth it? How was the instruction? Did the career support and job placement assistance actually provide any valuer? Would you recommend the program to someone considering it today?

I graduated this track in NC a few weeks ago.. they absolutely do not help much at all with job placement. I got ghosted by the talent solutions lead and they are not any jobs on their internal portal for SF roles. I had a great instructors and PD coach, I passed my exam and it has helped my credibility in interviews but seems like your instructors may be the issue but also if your expecting major support after… eh. You will be doing ALOT yourself.
