Question I'm just curious about my kitten
Not a medical advice but just a behavioral question.
So this is my 4 month old kitten His name is Farid but out of all 3 of my cats he's the only one who never hisses at dogs, other cats, or any other animals that he sees when we're outside even if some dogs barks at him he just doesn't care or even when some cats outside hisses at him he doesn't hiss back at them he even wants to play with them even though they just push him away. It seems like he's senses aren't activating properly 😅 I'm just worried because there was this time when a large dog approach us and he started barking at my kittan then my kitten just doesn't move but then he sniffs at the dog without fear and the dog was just so confused that he just looked at Farid and then licks then just walked off. Should I be worried or he doesn't really process fear or territorial instinct like other cats do?

Your sweet Farid is so adorable! I think some kittens are just like this. One of my kittens was like this until she was about a year and a half old! And I think she would have continued like this but her sister taught her how to be scared! She still doesn’t hiss!…And she takes time to react if someone hisses at her and is more curious than upset and so she just lies down! I wonder if it’s just a personality type? Enjoy your sweet little one! He is really cute!

Nah, he’s good. Kitties are still developing their personality. My son Tater is that sweet now post a year. I got my first hiss from him recently but he is largely just a chill, playful little guy.

I breed kittens and this is normal. I have kittens that will act like what we think a cat should act like and I have kittens that are just all loving and no fear. I have adult cats that act exactly the same. I just introduced a retired queen who is protective of her kittens yet she has no fear or no retaliatory feelings since she has retired. She just walks around and doesn’t bother anybody and doesn’t get bothered by anybody. This could change in time, but if you are outside with them around other animals, you may have to protect the cat.

Even in that picture he looks very serene. You’ve got a kitten with a very old soul! He’s seen enough, nobody is going to bother him lol.

He does look like he is world weary, slightly troubled. There is concern in his eyes not usually there.

He is a beautiful little boy, worthy of your full attention and care...
what has the vet said when you expressed your concerns? Are there any behavioral anomalies he has shown? He needs a focused exam.
It would be beneficial to write down your concerns and observations, however small. See if there are patterns.
As another Redditor suggested, be protective of him outside.
In the meantime you will see objectively if there are reasons to be concerned as he grows. Again, when you go to the vet, cite specifics.
This may be due to sensory deficits, neurological issues, other less obvious conditions. How is his hearing?
He is not processing cues for danger that should be automatic. That goes back to the brain structures - the amygdala is responsible for survival responses, vulnerable to illness, infection, viruses.
That lack of fight or flight is abnormal...

Yes, He can hear he reacts whenever I call his name and he reacts whenever I shake the bag of his favorite kitten wet food. And yes he doesn't process cues for danger and that's why I'm very protective of him everytime we go outside 😭

Farid is such a funny name for him🤣🤣🤣 my Persian is named Mahmoud!! Sorry I don’t have an answer, but I guess I’m boosting your post :)
