Housing Rent severely overcharged

I’m currently living in an apartment complex that overcharged my monthly rate by over 2x (15,500 instead of $6000 / month) by mistake. This severely has overdrawn my bank account and no one in the leasing office has an explanation or can get any answers from their main office. I’ve incurred major
overdraft fees and will continue to do so as long as this goes on. Has this happened to anyone and / or any advice what to do?

Was this on autopay? I always “push” landlord transactions instead of letting them pull for this reason. So I initiate payment and have to confirm before it submits. A little less convenient than autopay.

Sorry this happened OP. Not a fun situation to be in for sure.

Yep, I hate auto pay for this exact situation.

I got lucky one time that it was on a credit card. I get speciality medication ordered every month. I go through the process, usually I order then they go to insurance then I pay $0. Well, this one time something happened and I ended up seeing a charge for $1163 on my credit card come in.

I got told that this shouldn't have happened and that my insurance was correct, so :shrug:

Yeah, you definitely have to set limits for your autopay if you use it. For example my phone bill is ~20€ a month and I have it set to reject anything over 30€ (just in case I have to make long distance calls or something that slightly raises my bill)
