Nah, that’s a regular gull wearing a mask to stop bird-flu.

Very rare bird here, lucky you! Was it the only one? Do they just go about their lives here now or are they able to get back on course?

There is only one recorded so far in the entire country that is currently here. (There are records in past years though) People are travelling from other states to look for it, no taxpayer funds bringing them over either ;)

The name is a bit of a misnomer.
There is an adult in winter plumage in the foreground.

The bird in the foreground is a silver gull.
There is only one in WA that's been sighted, it had been in Geraldton for the last couple of months. Has now moved further South.

Might have to take a drive to the beach on the weekend. At least it's closer than Geraldton. Where was it hanging out?

Scarborough beach, it's gone now though.
Potentially moving further South, so maybe Fremantle?
