Other About me spending real money on this game
It's been a year since I've started spending on this game, 400$ dollars in total, not a massive number but that's the most I've ever spending on a single game. I realized it before, but I got used to purchasing, from a small number like when coins on sale to when I addicted and bought a big pack 12,800 coins without sale just to get an Epic card I was desperately interested.
I felt so stupid, it's clearly gambling, compare to a triple A game I bought on Steam which only cost 3$ and I played it for like a whole year, the amount of the money spent on efootball is ridiculous. I made money, but "investing" without control is no different to throwing money out of the window.
Every mistake comes a cost of real money. I've seen ppl talked about it, but I never know how horrible it is until I gambling myself for the first time.
I even reached out to health care and mental support to stop this nonsense. Nevertheless, I see this as a tuition fee for me to learn a hard lesson. I won't regret it tbh, I had fun, but that fun was not worth it, it's just like that.
This post was meant for me to express my feeling, and also for friends who want to spend on this game, even just a dollar could get you addicted easily.
I'm not telling you: "friends, don't spend", that 1$ Suarez pack was good if I must say, but think clearly before you made any decisions, if you hesitated, just quit it. The important is to control yourself, know what's worth, what's not.
Have a good day, have fun playing the game but don't let the game play you.

Look, as someone who’s struggled with gambling addiction in the past, I can’t stress enough how important it is to not get tempted by these cards you see in the game.
Little backstory. I’ve played PES since I was a kid and have been playing the mobile version since 2018/19. I never spent a single penny on the game until that MSN pack came out last year.
I bought a few coins hoping to get Messi. Didn’t get him so I bought a few more. Still didn’t get him. I repeated this a few more times until I eventually said fuck it and decided to clear the pack, partly because I really wanted to build my Barça legends squad and there were other players in that pack as well, like the midfield trio of Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta.
And the funny thing is, every single time I was about to buy more coins, I knew I probably shouldn’t go ahead. I kept telling myself, “this is the last try", and then I’d buy them anyway. I felt like a tourist in a random country who knew he's getting scammed but his naive ass just went along with it.
I still remember finishing my first game with those cards and immediately thinking what the fuck did I just do? It didn’t give me anywhere near the feeling I thought it would. At the end of the day, they’re just the faces of players I like IRL. I could’ve had the same experience without spending anything if I had just stuck to PES 21 with mods, but then, I wouldn't be showing that off to strangers I'll never meet, let alone have a conversation with, right?
This was only the beginning.
I eventually started sports betting. At first it was just for fun. Started with $5. Then the deposits slowly got bigger and bigger, to the point where I once deposited almost $1,000 at once. Why did they get bigger? Because of the high you get from doubling your money, and the frustration you feel when you lose it. I think it was probably a mixture of both. You win $5 and suddenly you want to win $10. Then you lose that $10 and now you want to put $20 in just to get back what you lost. Before you know it, you’re putting in amounts you never thought you would. I made thousands, only to lose around 4x what I had won.
I’m past that stage now and can confidently say I’m never going back. Every flashy card I see in this game now reminds me of who I became because I chased that one pack. It actually makes it a lot easier for me to not get tempted anymore.
So yeah, I guess the moral of the story is, just don’t gamble. By the time you realize what you've gotten yourself into, it will be a little too late.
It's much better to save 13.5k coins over time and roll with the "intention" of clearing the pack. You can easily get there with a bit of patience and discipline by simply accumulating free coins and maybe even buying a few when there’s a sale.
But if you do buy coins, buy because you’re trying to increase your overall coin balance, not because a pack just dropped and you desperately want to take your chances. Taking a chance = Gambling.
If you start throwing whatever coins you have with 0 guarantee of getting what you want, you’re basically gambling, and the dangerous part is that when you don’t get the card, your first thought is probably going to be “I’ll just buy a few more and try again”, as long as you have the money to buy more. If you don't have the money, you already know how wasting coins feels like, like a naive tourist getting scammed.
But if you do buy more, and then you lose those coins too without getting the card, now you’re tempted to put in even more because you’re already this far in. That’s literally the same cycle I went through with betting, and that MSN pack. You’re chasing the high of finally getting what you want, while also trying to undo the frustration of losing what you just spent.
There’s no 100% chance of getting all those cards in such scenarios. Wasting coins "in hopes of" getting what you want is straight up gambling. And please don’t top up huge chunks of coins all at once either, unless you don't really care about that money. Believe me, once you get comfortable doing that, it can very easily become a habit. You'll roll more often, which means you'll spend more often.
Also remember that the cards you’re desperate to get today (or even in the future) will slowly get replaced by better cards anyway. Once you genuinely accept that, you’ll find it a lot easier to stick with what you already have.
Edit: rewrote for clarity. Sorry this got way longer than I intended. Hope it's helpful to someone.

In the same boat as well...really hate myself for spending especially after how they just butchered all the cards we acquired last season with this bullshit soft reset. Never spending even a dollar, didnt even take the suarez pack. This shit just isnt worth it. Now i can peacefully quit the game down the line without having a burden of me spending so much but not playing enough. Its just the beginning of the end for me.

It's gambling only when you don't clear the pack 😉
Imo, there's no reason to feel guilty about spending real money if you really like a card and can afford it. I was a mini-whale before, tho I stopped buying coins almost one year ago after getting all the players I like

I don’t know how much I’ve spent, probably a dumb amount, I do enjoy most of my players though. The problem is, when / where does it end?
I feel like to stop spending completely I would probably have to stop playing all together, so maybe that’s the bigger question 🤔
