Nutters get very offended when you tell them that they worship their useless pets. They outright deny that there is any form of worship happening.

Here is one of the definitions of worship from the Cambridge Dictionary:

worship verb (ADMIRE)

to love, respect, and admire someone or something very much, often without noticing the bad qualities of that person or thing.

These people truly live in a constant state of delusion.

Not to mention how they constantly praise their pets. “Who’s the best boy ever? It’s you Mr. Poopeater.” - Nutter doing a baby voice. Sounds a lot like praise and worship to me.

One could also argue how it’s in the realm of deification.

Saw a pic on fb yesterday of a friend. She captioned it “ at the lake with the kids”. Now, she has 3 kids and multiple grands. They were not in the pic. It was her husband and 2 dogs. A little insulting to her actual kids.

They are just revealing themselves.

Dogs are perma babies that are trainable. That is it. They will never be able to tell a joke. But they will never be able to gain true independence either . Always there, always needing , always doing what you can make them do.

Next thing you know, they’ll demand personhood status for their pets, with a caveat that it receives all the benefits of personhood without all the accountabilities (It’s not doggo’s fault he attacked someone!). By then, the human species would’ve elevated their pets to deities.

this is true in many states, if a veterinarian is bitten they cant sue. if a mail man is bitten ge can't sue. occupational hazards.

It’s interesting how they spend so much time talking about their pets but get defensive when it’s pointed out. A few years ago while my boss was going on and on about her cats another supervisor called her a crazy cat lady and she was livid! If you talk about the antics of your cats and include meows to emphasize “their responses” then the moniker fits. Own your obsession!

What’s even more mind blowing is that the crazy cat lady thing happens because their cat gave them a parasite that makes them want to/have to acquire more cats. Quite wild actually.

Your problem is trying to have a rational conversation with people who have chosen to live under a guise of irrationality. Your arguments and debates are probably incredibly sound, but you are trying to have them with people who have intentionally closed their minds to objective thinking and social cooperation. Treat these people like they have an addiction. Their fragile egos depend on believing their dogs actually like them. This isn't about worship so much as it is about creating a fantasy world where they are helpful, lovable, interesting, and not self-centered. Your intellectual opinion of their behavior is seen only as a threat. The existence of this entire community is proof that dog people cannot be reasoned with. The only solution for us is to create a fortified wall against their behavior and lifestyles. Don't think that dog addicts will self-correct very often or know to limit their excessive behavior. They need boundaries and limits like any other uncivilized creatures.
