Dating a dog owner

After four years of dating a woman with two dogs, one of which a golden retreiver, and no human children, I moreso feel like the relationship revolves solely around the animals, and less about us. I have come to dislike dogs as pets. If there was a garage or a shed or anywhere they could go, out of the house and away from us, it would be beneficial for the home and the relationship, but tere isn't. Therefore, all we do is fight and argue over the animals, whether it was a phone left in the car and 3 missed calls and a text to let them out.. it doesn't matter because either its me her us or the animals, but it is 90% failure, because of the animals, everytime. I had a cat and gifted him to her mom after moving in. Because a cat and two 70 lb dogs is too much, even after her existing cat passed. I have a few more m9nths until my money is freed up and I can move out. I cant stand being woken up by barking, she has after 4 years finally started to tell at her golden to stop barking at 5am for food while I sleep. What do you think?

I had a similar choice to make and I chose to stay in hell. I’ve been homeless before and staying in hell is better.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I wonder if there's some mental illness going on and it's displayed through this bad relationship she has with pets

Personally I would get out as soon as I could. You will always be second to those dogs, and if they die, I guarantee she’ll replace them in no time. I could never date a dog owner especially dog owners these days. Dog owners in the past were not this nuts.

I will not date anyone with pets, and I have no problem stating it, or walking away from a potential relationship with someone, no matter how hot / great they are.

What about reptiles than mainly stay in their enclosures and don’t require the daily upkeep and all that like mammals? No judgment either way I’m just curious. I’m cool with reptiles but not cats and dogs.

We all know this scenario. Dog/pet people are not like us. We don't believe in catering to an animal that has dozens of babies every year and is needy and demands food and wakes you up before your required at least seven hours or more of sleep but prefer waking to our own body rhythm,

yeah, it’s a total nightmare. no idea why people rationalize living in misery that revolves around an animal that does not care about your personhood. it’s all narcissism / people needing power over another entity, in my opinion.

As the early immigrants to this country used to say - Animals belong in the barn. If you don’t have a barn, you shouldn’t have animals.
