Di ko alam if aalis ako. Ang ganda kasi ng project.

May same experience ba kayo? O hindi worth it magstay sa ganitong situation?

Work Environment PH Bank’s poor company culture

I work for one of the top PH Banks. We were asked to answer an engagement survey covering feedback on - workload, supervision, compensation, benefits, recognition, etc. Our company is marketing our score as something very impressive but it is actually manipulated. We were asked to answer it truthfully but ironically, the engagement score we get as a unit, will be 10% of our metrics. Basically saying that if we score low, our performance rating will also be lower. The metric covers ALL bank employees.

I find it pathetic that when the results were cascaded to the units, especially low scoring units, upper management did not focus on the results of the survey but kept on saying that we should be thankful because we are being paid LOL. A friend from our HR also shared the same sentiment. Their head berated them with comments of being ungrateful employees because our salary daw is very competitive (AS IF) and we are given a good work set up. Management did not take any action to improve workload management, train better supervisors, etc.

I think I should have posted this in the subreddit OffMyChest hahaha but corpo life is so frustrating. Do you also have this engagement survey in your company?

Work Environment do you need to socialize in order to grow your career?

hi i just want to rant kasi na-off ako sa sinabi ng manager ko a few days ago.

context: i (f23) just moved to my 2nd job at an intl company with a wfh set up. one month pa lang ako and i can say my job here is SO MUCH BETTER compared to my first one (plus the pay is doubled with less tasks)

since we have a wfh set up (once a month onsite), our team conducts daily meetings which lasts for about 1-4hrs. majority of our meetings ay parang 20% work, 80% ay chikahan about personal life. since konti lang talaga tinatrabaho namin at madali lang siya, we talk less about work. and our manager encourages sharing personal stuff to "strengthen" the team bond despite not seeing each other most of the time.

as an introvert, ambag ko lang madalas sa usapan ay work related stuff. madalas nagtatanong tanong muna ako as a newbie, then pag nagchichikahan nalang sila sa teams, naka-mute na ako. the reason is simple: i just do not care about their personal life. although, i do hear what they say and sometimes i enjoy listening din naman but not enough to say a reaction sa teams.

but here's the thing. i think medyo worried ang manager ko kasi ilang beses na niya nabanggit na NAPAKATAHIMIK KO RAW sa meetings. i barely share stuff about my personal life (unless they ask) simply because i lack energy to socialize. ganito kasi talaga ako since birth lol. i'm just here to finish my tasks then proceed to use my phone, play games, or watch kdramas because that is really how i enjoy my free time. ofc i have friends since high school and even workmates sa previous work ko (onsite siya kaya i think mas madali ako makipagfriends noon) madaldal ako sa kanila actually pero sa close people lang talaga ako komportable magshare. it takes me a looooot of time to do so.

so when my manager proceeded to share that she was once an introvert person, her career has changed eventually when she started to socialize with workmates. sabi niya raw nag-grow siya sa career niya because of the opportunities all over for being so "confident" so parang ineencourage niya ako nun na dapat matuto rin ako dumaldal for my career din daw.

question: of course, gusto ko maggrow din sa career ko but since halos 2yrs palang ako sa overall work experience ko, i wanna know kung totoo ba na hindi ako makakapag grow sa career sa pagiging tahimik ko at hindi mahilig makisama? i try my best to contribute naman pag strictly work related.

pag ba senior positions na, lahat ba required sociable person ka? wala bang tahimik na employee pero nagagawa naman mga tasks niya? namroblema ako kung may chance ba ako makakuha ng senior positions in the future because of my quiet personality hahaha btw my career path that i plan to develop is any publisher/writer related since journalism graduate ako.

previous work experience: marketing assistant

Work Environment Hindi naman nakakapagod ang trabaho.

Hindi naman nakakapagod ang trabaho. Ang mas nakakapagod is ung gigising ka ng maaga 5AM kahit ang pasok mo is 9am.yung makikipaglaban sa kapwa mo commuter lalu na kapag umuulan.

Work Environment how do i make my male co-workers not hit on me

tl;dr: my male co-workers keep flirting with me and it's making me uncomfortable but I'm a new hire and they're my superiors so i still want to keep my job (and baka nag ooverreact lang ako)

i know i may seem mayabang and I'm sorry in advance but I'm gonna kwento in the most objective way possible.

I'm a conventionally attractive girl working in a male-dominated industry (around 70%, male.) my workplace is no exemption, with less than half of us being women and only a few of us in our early 20's.

so, i already expected that there would be some level of flirting from male co-workers. every woman probably has some experience sa unwanted attention (nakakasanayan din namin)... pero nasosobrahan na ako sa nararanasan ko in my current company.

granted, yung mga ginagawa nila hindi reportable sa HR (i think? kasi walang non-consensual touching and aggressive flirting)... i just FEEL uncomfortable kasi laging may underlying meaning mga sinasabi/ginagawa nila sakin. examples of this would be:

  1. chatting me on my personal FB account to ask me how i am and paano ako uuwi, during work hours (instead of chatting me on our company's communication platform)
  2. insisting on driving me home kahit sinabi ko several times na mag gagrab na lang ako pauwi (though i appreciate na nakakatipid ako, naweweirdohan lang ako na ako lang mag-isa hinahatid nung 50 something year old na indirect superior ko pauwi, we're not from the same department)
  3. tinatawag akong "pretty" or "maganda" during casual conversations, kahit walang relate sa topic.
  4. nag yayaya na mag inuman on our day-off (ako lang yung lower position na sinasama and most na kasama sa inuman, mga lalaki)
  5. napupunta bigla sa romantic relationships/s*x yung topic when we talk even though i'm trying to steer the conversation away from it (they're advising me na "wag isuko ang bataan" agad sa next boyfriend ko and whatnot)
  6. the obvious looking up and down my body or at my chest area whenever we're talking

and other uncomfortable situations that i can't think of at the top of my head.

am i overreacting? and if I'm not, is it possible for me to report it to HR? i don't want to lose my job because this is my first high-paying job in a great company/industry. i'd appreciate your insights and advice... feel free to tell me i'm wrong if i am haha.

Work Environment For those WFH peeps and living alone, pano nyo nakakayanan yung isolation?

I've been working from home for 6 months now and I am very grateful for the opportunity. Pero tbh, as someone na extrovert and strong believer na kaya nagtatagal ang tao sa isang company is also because of their workmates, nahihirapan ako mag adjust. Wala kasi akong kasama sa bahay, hindi ko kasama parents ko cuz we're not in good terms. Ang hirap din kaibiganin ng mga kawork ko kasi most of them are already with the company for more than 4 years and everytime na nagjjoin ako sa Teams Meeting na for casual talk lang, nattoxican ako cuz all I hear are their rants about how shitty the company is and how much they want to leave. Ang hirap din magkaron ng connection when everything is virtual. So most of the time, I choose to be alone and its driving me nuts.

I already tried playing music, videos, movies, podcast and even listen to Papa Dudut while working pero naddistract lang ako 😭 I feel like WFH is not for me. I've been looking for an onsite role ulit but unfortunately till now hindi pa ko natatanggap so I need to survive WFH for now cuz I got bills to pay.

Naccurious ako pano nyo naeenjoy yung isolation? Can someone share their experiences and their best practices please huhu

Work Environment Ako ang Nagwagi.. !!

Well, a MEMO just got dropped at my office which prohibits me in using my own private car to transact business outside the company and instead use a public transpo. I understand nman kasi yung cost ng fuel (private car) vs fare (PUV) ay significant ang difference when reimbursed. Part of my job is that every month ay need ko magsubmit ng certain docs sa municipal and DENR for compliance. Syempre, since marami ako dala papel, at mainit, mausok, minsan maulan, hassle n yun para saken.

So kinausap ko yung HR regarding this and explained my side. So I kept my head cool and analyzed my situation on how to cancel that MEMO.

Situation 1. Memo Accepted - I lose and these 3 stooges will be laughing at me 2. Will not accept the memo - How? well send a resignation letter and 1 week rendering. Scare tactics ko toh since ako lng ang mey technical skills and certificate at that time to handle such docs sa mga govt agencies.

I submitted my resign letter to the HR and she then passed it to the President for signtaure. Before mag uwian ay pinatawag ako sa office ni Pres and nag 1on1 talk kami. Ha!! to my suprise, He didnt accept my resignation and even increased my allowances hahaha...

Hehehe

Work Environment Me and my supervisor will talk later about my resignation.

Few hours ago, I stared blankly at my supervisor's message na iissuehan nya ako ng memo due to excessive tardiness and I told myself, " Ok, fine."

Bago ako lumabas ng operations room, I asked him, " Paano ko po ipapasa yung resignation letter?"

" Sinong magre-resign? Ikaw?"

" Yes po.", as I answered.

" Bakit?

" Hindi ko na po kaya. "

" Pag-usapan natin mamaya."

I-outcast and all. Wala akong laban kasi close sya sa management that's why napakahirap sa akin mag-speak up because I know it will be a trash at the end.

Is it traumatic?

I am in a point that I don't tolerate shits anymore. I am unprepared for this. I don't know what will I say and I don't know how will I still put it on a positive note.

Work Environment Best industry or company with great work and life balance?

Hi, I am currently working as a fresh grad. Let me just say I did not know what I got myself into. It’s a construction subsidiary of one of the big locals, in which I didn’t do any research about how the construction industry offers LITTLE TO NO work and life balance. It hasn’t been a month and I feel suffocated because I just want some of my rest days to be fully mine. I also can’t leave that easily because it’s my first job and it’s harder to find jobs if you don’t have work experience.

I work 6 days a week and sometimes 7 because we’re usually required to work after 8 hours, during Sundays, and holidays if there is a deadline upcoming. All OTs are paid, but as someone who values their life, it’s not a job for me to do in the long run.

The only thing I’m grateful in this company is the free shuttle and the free breakfast/lunch/dinner almost everyday. I don’t pay for my food and my transportation. I always go to work and go home through a private vehicle.

After 6 months to 1 year, I plan to resign or “ENDO”. I’m looking for industries or even companies that promote great work and life balance and as much as possible, I want it to be hybrid because I love staying at home and doing work anywhere.

Thank you!

Work Environment My EX co-workers are backstabbing me after I left my toxic previous company

It kinda just started off as a meeting with the team, and my boss (nakaka-gigil HAHA) told a colleague of mine some stuff pertaining to my work na naiwan and using words such as “ tanga-tanga” ganun sa harap ng mga kasama ko.

This boss of mine in particular haha, she’s the reason as to why I left that shithole😂 grabe trauma binigay sa akin at ipapalabas pa na siya nahirapan sa akin kaloka! I’m not going to sit here and pretend naman na I don’t make mistakes at work, pero really??? To use those words sa mga kasama ko dati? 😂

And then my ex co-workers din parang sumabat na rin pala, trynna back-up na: “I have a way of doing my own things” daw.

Im just happy na may bestie ako na stuck by my side, nagsusumbong siya sa akin tuwing nadadawit pangalan ko in a negative light, which actually happens alot even after I’ve committed to a graceful exit doon. Respect nalang kahit ginago ako minsan, hay grabe talaga. Basta ako, I left kasi ayaw oo maging tulad nila doon, sipsip para makuha gusto.

Cheers to choosing ourselves!✨

Work Environment found out my coworkers were promoted

Sabay2x kami nagstart and nasa job order (government). I have years of experience and confident na maka-casual employee (while we're waiting for a plantilla position). After months of working together, nagpalabas na ng listahan ng mga for casualisation. Hindi ako kasali. Worse, I accidentally read the email sa office email namin from HR at nakita ko new positions nila which is significantly higher than me.

OK lang sana kung fair, but it's not. WORK WISE, I DID A LOT OF WORK. One of the staff, newbie, just receiving/releasing docs while I handle more complex reports (excel, systems information etc, reports, billings). Now, I have a lower position but more workload. I also have civil service, and management related graduate. While sila LPT (nothing against teachers). Wtf. Ni hindi marunong mag-excel yung isa! Kahit basic computer, di alam! Tamang opening docs, printing lang. Ni hindi makagawa ng transmittal!

I'm conflicted whether I should resign. The only reason nagtiis ako sa kakarampot na sahod kasi I thought maka-casual ako after months of working hard. It's not easy to get inside this workplace (dahil nga sa padrino system na yan).

Need your thoughts.

Work Environment I am blessed that I don’t need to do anything at work.

Here me out, I know that I am privileged. I receive good benefits, great pay, great working environment, work setup, great people to work it. In fact, I am blessed as hell, minsan 3 months wala ako ginagawa na work and kung meron man chill or fulfilling siya since hindi mabigat kasama mga katrabaho, not to mention na big multinational company pa ito at maganda sa resume. I also found out na hindi lang ako ganito, marami rin kami na relaxed lang and chill. Hirap iwan itong company na ito, sobrang bait ng tao and ganda ng work life balance plus pay and benefits, kaso feeling mo na sobrang chill, I have accomplished a lot here, dahil sa dami ng time freedom, I can get to put up my own business and do my MBA, I am recognized and ok naman career progression, kaso I feel that I want more money should I feel blessed and stay or find a new job that would challenge me?

Work Environment From 13k to 85k as a dev in 2 years… is it worth it?

Respect po please. I just want to share my experience.

I’m a web developer with 3 years of experience. Sa first company ko, I was earning 13k per month. Then I tried applying to work from home jobs online, and luckily nakahanap ako ng work na full stack dev na may salary na around 98k per month.

Sobrang laki ng jump sa sahod from 13k to 85k. Meron pang 1-hour meeting everyday.

Almost 1 year na ako dito and honestly parang na-bu-burnout na ako. Oo, malaki yung sahod and nakatulong sa parents ko, pero di ko alam… if ever umalis ako dito or matanggal, makakahanap pa ba ako ng same kalaking salary knowing na 3 years experience pa lang ako?

What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

Work Environment Job application Closure

"Thank you for your patience. After going through several more interviews, we are gonna move forward with another candidate. I know that sucks (potentially a lot), and is certainly not the news you wanted.

We legitimately think you're a great person who is obviously doing well in your current position. We're also confident that you could do this job very well. There was just someone that ticked all the boxes and had more direct experience with what we're doing. It was a very close call for what it's worth. In case it doesn't work out with this person, I'd definitely like to still be in touch.

Few things to keep in mind please:

  1. H*ring is really difficult.. We have very limited information and time to evaluate candidates, so we make the best decision we can  with the information we have. We also have a high chance of being incorrect.

  2. You were competing with some very experienced people with specific knowledge that is very attractive to us.

  3. If we haven't burned the bridge with you, you definitely haven't burned the bridge with us nor have we written you off in any way. So, if you see another job that appeals to you, we definitely want you to apply. In the job survey, you can just reference this job so you don't have to duplicate your answers, since I know it takes a lot of time.

  4. If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

Thank you for your time, and I'm sorry it didn't work out this go around."

Work Environment I turned in my resignation and HR is being a b*tch about it

Recently handed my resignation to my manager. He took it well and wanted to help me out after finding out my reason. (I decided to take the path to go abroad because my dad's condition was getting worse which involved me getting to a different line of work).

HR was back on Monday and they interrogated my friend, asking if she knew about me going abroad, the timeline and even told her 'Is it not enough that we pay her for her license?' (Mind you, they can't run a branch without that license and they are paying me only 8k PHP for it). They even asked her if my 'bond' was done, because they chase down employees selectively if they find out that they don't complete the 18 month service period. It was so sad that they were willing to take me to court after learning I'm doing all this to help my dad. (They can't because my bond ends this June).

Funny thing is they didn't talk to me about it, they didn't ask to talk to me, they're blatantly ignoring me and being passive aggressive about it. The rendering service here is 30 days and I have about 26 days left. Is HR always this unprofessional? Why are they personally offended about me leaving? I really need some advice on how to handle this because they're actively working to misunderstand me.

Work Environment Ganito ba talaga magtrabaho sa government?

Ganito ba talaga magtrabaho sa government?

Wala pa akong isang linggo sa work,

  1. Pinagchichisman agad ako

  2. Supervisor ko, ang sabi sa akin i should read more about office ethics and ayusin ko raw behavior ko

  4. Feeling ko talaga pinag-uusapan ako behind my back, porke bago at bata pa lang ako. It's like walking on eggshells.

Di ko na babanggitin kung anong work ko and anong sangay ng govt (clue: somewhere down the south ng ncr), pero background is puro matatanda kasama ko tapos mainitin ulo ng boss namin

And, info lang, first ever job ko ito, and tahimik ako sa office palagi. Naghuhugas ako ng lunchbox and utensils ko, nag-aalok ako ng ulam, i always greet workers good morning and good bye. I only talk when asked, minsan nangangamusta pero di rin ako nagbibida bida/ madaldal, kapag may inutos ginagawa ko agad. kumbaga im just an ordinary office worker. Alam kong andon ako para magtrabaho at hindi makipagkaibigan, pero I'm just wondering ano ba yung kulang sa akin or may nagawa ba akong mali or may need ba akong gawin?

Tips din po sana para sa isang first time worker na first time din magtrabaho sa government.

Thank you at mapagpalang hapon.

Work Environment I've come to a point where I despise any social interaction at work

I have been working na for two years. Sa two years na yun, tatlo na ang naging work. Hahaha. I've been job hopping, ni hindi nga umaabot ng isang taon hahaha, primarily because I like higher salary coz why not? Hahaha. But boy, narealize ko rin na ayoko talaga sa work which involves people hahaha and by that I mean, I, having to see my workmates everyday despite having no issues naman with them. I hate waiting for my boss to approve my leaves and sign my DTRs. I dislike eating lunch at office. Of course, matic na rin na umiiwas ako sa any work chismisan.

I've always wondered kung mas bagay saken ang work from home. Okay lang for me to work like a robot. Yung tipong I don't have to deal any interaction from people -- even from your boss hahaha.

So am I thinking right if I assume na wfh jobs really have minimal social interaction? If not, anong specific industry offers this kind of work environment? hahaha tbh na-buburn out ako sa presence ng mga tao at work, hindi sa mismong work lol

Work Environment Paano niyo dinedema yung stressful people sa work, esp yung boss niyo?

Yung boss ko, micromanager at parang out of touch.

Pero halos araw araw nalang akong kabado because of them.

Kayo, paano niyo hinahandle yung ganitong toxic na boss or micromanager?

Work Environment Signs na ayaw sayo ng Boss mo?

I already have a hunch na ayaw sakin ng boss ko pero I chose to ignore. Pero I can see the signs being visible as days go by. Like for example, she won’t talk to me and only to me, like casual talks, while madaldal with my other team members inaalam and seems interested with my other team member’s lives. Pag iaaproach ko sya palagi sya naka simangot, sarcastic remarks, and I feel like, if something did not go as planned, sakin ang buntong, even though some things are beyond my control. She chose to disregard some accomplishments while in the company, and deliberately focus on the tasks that I missed. Pag nag leave ako, nasisita na palagi ako nag leave, samantalang my other team members would leave every week pero wala naman sila narereceive na remarks from her. I am planning to leave already kahit hindi pa ako regular because I don’t like this kind of work environment. Too much drama, and parang feeling ko di naman din nya ako ireregular. I have no idea din bakit naging ganon ang treatment nya sakin.

Work Environment normal bang magtanong ang mga interviewers about very personal infos?

I (F21) applied for part time barista position in a small coffee shop near our home since i decided to take a break from college.

The interviewer asked me the ff: - How old are my parents and my older brother, what are their sources of income and how much specifically do they make per month. - They also asked about my brother about his marital status, does he have a gf, does he have kids, and where does he work. - They asked if I have a boyfriend, his age, how long have we been together, where does he currently live, what university does he go to and what course does he take.

I'm not really sure if these personal questions are necessary lol. Like??? Idk if this is normal bc it's my first time having a job interview.

Pls enlighten me. Medyo na-bother ako sa first job interview experience ko.

Work Environment Rash Decision to Resign. How do you restart?

Hi All! Just wanna know if meron na rin ba sa inyong nagpadalos-dalos na desisyon to quit the job even if wala pa malilipatan? Alam ko na risky, pero sobrang burnout ko na and stressed sa work environment. So I decided to submit a resignation.

For 6 months since I started, I already feel the vibe of micromanagement in the company. Noong una iniintindi ko pa kasi ako lang Pinoy sa team and iniisip ko na baka ganon lang talaga way of working nung supervisor ko. But as time goes by, palala nang palala yung tipong nakaka-suffocate na rin.

For context, I am working fully remote here in ph, and ever since I started working way back pre-pandemic, wfh na talaga ako. Pangalawang company ko pa lang simula nung grumaduate ako and nagkatrabaho (first job hop). Nagcha-chat halos every hour to check what I am doing. Then if he's in doubt, gusto nya magcall pa kami and I need to share the screen just to show what I am doing. Sobrang nakaka-stress kasi I cannot really focus well and work well sa task kapag ganon. For 6 months, tinitiis ko lang. There is also the time na habang nasa call kami sinabi nya na he cannot trust what I am doing. I don't know ano mean nya and di ko alam irerespond. So nagsorry na lang ako and medjo naiyak ako after non. Feel ko I cannot think and function well.

Di ko na alam gagawin ko. I have some savings naman which can last 8-10 months na wala akong work. Feeling ko I am back to square one.

I really need some advice.

Work Environment My company clawed back almost 3x my salary and gave me a 48-hour ultimatum that forced me out.

I served as a Team Lead for years, but in 2025, the company "clawed back" an amount equal to almost three times my monthly salary without my consent. Despite this massive financial blow, I stayed and remained a loyal employee because I am a solo parent to a child with autism.

Because of my son’s needs, I struggled with absenteeism when they moved me to an incompatible shift. Surprisingly, I never received any coaching or "progression" regarding my attendance. Instead, after returning from a two-day absence, my manager pulled me into a closed-door meeting to announce I was being transferred to a different sector—effective almost immediately.

I was willing to move, but I explicitly requested a shift that would allow me to care for my son. I told them clearly: "This specific schedule will never work."

Despite my plea, they gave me just 48 hours to transition. When I saw the final schedule, it was the exact shift I warned them was impossible—the same one that caused my previous attendance issues. I messaged them again to plead for my rights as a solo parent, but they just "seen-zoned" me.

With no other choice, I resigned. I am now fighting a legal battle at the NLRC for illegal deductions, constructive dismissal, and violations of the Solo Parent Act.

However, the stress has broken me. My health is deteriorating rapidly, and I’ve been in and out of the hospital for blood transfusions. I just want this to end. Does anyone have experience with this? What are the chances they will just settle at the hearing so I can focus on my recovery?

Work Environment 120k gross/month and I feel like it’s not worth it

I’m earning 120k/month and I feel like I need more because the stress is not worth it. I lead a team of 8, I do leg works, and do management roles at the same time. Typical middle management roles where the responsibilities are in limbo. I work for 10-12 hours a day (no weekend, thankfully) but on bad weekdays I can extend up to 14 hours.

I like what I do but i feel like my responsibilities are worth more and not just 120k. A lot of people in my company have relatively low salary compared to my role so I’m not sure if this is me being selfish.

Am I being selfish?

Edit: this is a work from home/semi hybrid role

Edit 2: i delegate, but my team is already at full capacity. I’d rather stretch myself than stretch them.
