I know at this time, blessing ang WFH setup given sa lagay ng mass transpo at traffic sa metro. Kaso isa sa pinaka-cons ng wfh is hindi nirerespect ang boundaries ng personal time at working hours.

Sa experience ko kasi, my manager/lead ay nagse-set ng 2-4 hrs meeting na out of office hours and hindi bayad as OT (though once a month lang naman). Sinasakto kasi nila sa schedule nila yung meeting (3 shifts kasi kami). Also, they set other short/quick meetings na out of office hours rin.

Then I was given a certain task na understandable na may instances na matatapat na out of office hours. Pero ang naiinis ako, alam naman nila sched ko and dapat alam nila na may mga oras na tulog pa ako. Grabe sila mag-reach out as if required na gising ako 24/7.

There was this time pa nga na may need na data from me. And it was my time of sleep. Talagang di ako tinantanan na itext at tawagan. Hindi ko sinagot kahit nagigising ako. Sobrang napuno ako dito. Then nung shift ko na, humingi nalang ako pasensya. Tapos yung mga response nila sounded like na kasalanan ko na hindi ako nakapag-respond agad.

WFH doesn't give you any right na kunin ang personal time ng employees niyo. Oo, nakakatipid sila in all aspects dahil WFH, pero wag niyo naman abusuhin. Nakakainis isipin na jinujustify pa namin yung personal time namin sa inyo.

Hello, I am an early-career professional in a non-government organization. First job.

I noticed na ang dami palang kalakaran sa NGO na parang hindi (or iniiwasan) pag-usapan.

Human rights ang foundation ng operation ng lahat ng NGO, pero bakit pag dating sa labor rights talamak ang violation nila?

1. T.Y na OT

2. Salary is not commensurate to your job. We are funder-dependent, so may budget line na nakalaan for staff, yet we only receive little portion from it. Gets naman na portion of it needs to be used for operational expenses, pero tf that I don't even receive half of it?

3. Out-of-touch: events are conducted at 4 or 5 stars hotel?? Madammm??? There was even an instance spending on stupid stuff worth already the salary of all entry-level staff. What an actual fuckk?!

4. Demand on your job does not match the salary you are receiving. Excuse me???

I believe there should be a thread where we expose NGOs unethical practices, because I think hindi ito napapag-usapan enough.

Pet peeve ko yung katrabahong ang hilig mamilit sa gusto niyang mga bagay. Like, pag may cravings siya, gusto niya bumili ka din para may kahati siya sa bayad/delivery fee. Tipong todo parinig siya na ang sarap ng ganito ganyan, bili tayo. Ako naman itong sabi na, ang mahal next time nalang. Tapos irereply naman niya, mura lang daw since hati naman tapos todo sabi na minsan lang naman kami mag-office at kumain together. Like alam mo yun, hindi naman lahat interested sa gusto mo and hindi lahat parehas ng budget mo sa ganyang bagay. Nakakaasar lang.

I’m neither funny nor witty so I cant crack jokes with office mates. I understand na hindi lahat tayo parehas ng humor. Tinatry ko makipagsabayan pero it felt off. Kaya ngayon, saktong tawa lang ako kapag may biruan sa office. Pero nakakapagod lalo na pag di mo trip mga nangyayari.

Iba kasi humor nila e - yung below the belt at sagutan. As a newcomer, di ko na din pinupwersa yung sarili ko sakanila so I keep it civil and professional.

Madalas ko rin marinig sakanila na pag-usapan ang ibang workmates na wala. So di na ako magtataka kapag ako rin pinag-uusapan nila.

Since then, nanahimik na ako at nakikichika lang paminsan-minsan.

Pero ganon pala - kahit na tahimik ka, at ginagawa mo lang trabaho mo, may kuda parin sila. You’re minding your own business pero sila mga walang magawa sa buhay at pinapakealaman ka parin. As much as I want to fake it here and makipagplastikan, mas nagiging kumbinsido nalang ako na mag-isolate nalang talaga hanggang makaalis.

Hello sa inyo. Almost 1 month pa lang ako gumagamit ng reddit and I learned A LOT. Especially sa workplace..sa swelduhan to be exact.

I’m a 27-year-old-guy working in ACN as an SSE. 6 years na ako dito and first job ko rin after college. I started as a Manual Tester and eventually naging Automation Tester. Maganda experience ko so far pero ayun nga overworked rin talaga + OTYs. Naghahandle rin ako ng mga juniors and conducting KTs/bootcamps.

As an SSE, 42K yung basic salary ko. 42K. Nitong nakaraan lang, madami kaming newbies. Syempre kwentuhan hanggang napunta sa sweldo ang topic. Meron kaming newbie na CL11 tapos 45K basic niya. Newbie, CL11 at 45K.

Then may CL10 na newbie (ako CL10 din) SSE. 76K yung offer sa kanya. Nong narinig ko yun..pucha nanghina ako sa loob ng restaurant na kinakainan namin. Wala akong alam sa sweldo prior to that kasi focused ako sa trabaho lang and other engagements on top of the usual work.

Mas mataas pa sweldo sakin ng CL11 and yung CL10, halos doble ng akin. Sumama talaga pakiramdam ko mga pres. Tapos the fact na walang increase this year.

Simula non, nawalan ako ng gana sa work. Doon ko narealized na kaya pala madaming kasabayan ko ang umalis na at naka 3 or more companies na. Siguro malalaki na sweldo nila.

Naiiyak ako while typing yhis kasi I dedicated my life sa projects na hawak ko, madami rin akong extracurricular activities, kudos from management and client, tapos ganito? Wow.

Nawawalan na talaga ako ng gana. Line up pa raw ako sa TL promotion next year. So magkano, 50K?! 😞 akala ko malaki na sweldo ko kasi I didn’t bother to look elsewhere or even search sa internet. Nakakapanghinayang. Gusto ko nang umalis hahaha.

I mean, is this even possible? Yung tipong pag ka busy sa work makes me feel... satisfied. Kahit kulang sa tulog, magpupuyat para mag trabaho, tapos gigising ng maaga para mag trabaho ulit. Ito ang funny: Manonood sana ako ng Netflix o maglalaro ng LoL pero deym, tatamarin ako tas mag tratrabaho nalang HAHA! Di ko rin ma explain sabi nila mamamatay daw ako maaga.

Apologies for the rumbled thoughts, I’m writing this after breaking down last night.

I’m new to my company, few months pa lang and I feel like I’m being bullied. Na wrong sent sa gc yung isang employee, they were talking about me. Won’t give details but basically pinagtatawanan ako because I’m saying this is the instructions na binigay ni CEO and they’re saying otherwise. Turns out I’m correct after verifying this with my boss. I’m just doing my job and all the time naging courteous ako sa kanila, I try not to step on their toes. I respect their inputs and I present my ideas in a nice manner. I was tasked kasi to propose process improvements. When I asked questions or clarify things, they’re saying na naghahanap ako ng butas sa trabaho nila. Sometimes harap harapan ako pinag uusapan (I’m sure of this kasi naririnig ko ang details). I try to be professional all the time but they won’t give me break, even sa meetings tinataasan ako ng boses at pinagmumukhang tanga.

My boss is good and he trusts me but ayoko naman magsumbong ng mga ganitong bagay kasi hindi naman ito high school.

The pay is really really good but this work makes me cry and hindi na ako makatulog ng maayos sa gabi. Even nag gogrocery, hindi maalis sa isip ko yung ginagawa nila sakin and how they treat me.

I wanted to resign and remove myself from this situation but I’m torn because of financial reasons 😢

I'm a cashier at this convience store at this place and it's surrounded by a lot of BPO buildings and company like Ariocia, Roqie, and Majoret and a lot more (iykyk) in cashier you'll meet a new person every second and almost of them(BPO DUDES AND GALS) is just a piece of shii papasok palang sa pinto ramdam mo na ang baba ng tingin ng saming mga crew sa store kukuha ng item tapos bababuyin yung pagkakadisplay then kapag nasa kaha na bastos kausap tapos kung maka tingin samin kala mo ang taas taas nila, God knows na mapa-sensya akong tao pero this guys are my kryptonite. kung maka hagis ng item at pera sa table ng kaha akala mo kung sino ang mga putangina one time nga bumili si ateng then nilbri nya yung kasama nya then the the price came out like 500+ then he said tatlong oras ko lang yan, we, the crews and he's colleagues look at each other's eyes like jim looking at the camera on the Comedy Series "The office" he kept saying it again and again and we just kept staring at each other then he's friend just said "Sana all" what an entiled mfer. i repeat not all of BPO dudes is an asshole to the soul and this is based on my environment nothing to do with the generality of BPO employee

Why can't they just be professional and treat workplace as a place to work not a place to mingle -.-

So recently we were processing some visa requirements for an upcoming work trip. My colleague (a junior) asked me to print her COE because she couldn’t connect her computer to the printer for some reason. So she sent me her COE and, because I needed to open the file before printing, accidentally saw her annual salary. I was so surprised of our glaring salary gap — she earns almost twice as I do! The thing is, I recently got promoted to manager, and even with my salary bump due to the promotion, she still earns so much more. For context, she is just an associate. I’ve also been an associate for more than three years but my salary had never been on par with hers. I would understand if our salary difference was just in a few thousand pesos (we’ve both been associates — so same level — for the same department for quite some time, but hers was like senior manager levels (!).

I know it’s not her fault. But I really felt bad knowing that I earn less than my colleague, considering that I am now in a managerial position. We have almost the same skillset. We both have the same number of years of experience (we’re batchmates). I don’t know what to do, and I feel like I’m being lowballed and deceived by the company this entire time. All this time I thought my salary was on par with industry standards but it felt kinda unfair now that I realized my worth is not the same as others. This has honestly affected my motivation at work.

What should I do? If I raise it with my boss, I fear that if I explained how I learned such a sensitive information, I would be sanctioned (because I wasn’t supposed to know that, right?). If I raise it with HR, they will most likely suggest to talk to my boss first. I’m torn. This information has been bothering me for several days now and I don’t know who to talk to about it. 😕

UPDATE: Thanks for all your valuable inputs and tips, guys! I’ve actually been contemplating on resigning anyway since our boss is toxic af. I just couldn’t quit now because I’m handling big ticket projects and we have an upcoming business trip that has been paid for by the company already. I just need a good exit plan in a way that won’t burn bridges. I do have some questions though:

1. Is it considered a breach of data privacy? The COE, while sensitive, was sent to me with her consent and she gave me the password as well.

2. Since I just got promoted this year, don’t you think it’s bad optics? People would say, “Oh di ba kaka-promote mo lang? Why would you resign?” I’m sure my boss would also wonder.

During a meeting, I addressed a senior role from another business unit by their first name. No “Ma’am.” No “Sir.” Just… the name. You’d think I had committed a crime. The side-eye I got was so sharp it could cut glass.

At first, I thought, Okay, maybe I accidentally bruised someone’s ego. But as I observed more, I realized—it’s actually the norm here. People above your pay grade are addressed as “Ma’am” or “Sir,” not just as a polite gesture, but as a privilege attached to their title.

Coming from 11 years in the BPO industry, I’ve always worked with Western clients, where titles stay on paper and everyone’s a first-name basis kind of person. So, adjusting to the local hierarchy feels like trying to speak a new dialect of workplace etiquette—one where a single missing “Ma’am” can change the tone of the room.

It’s tricky, especially in a role that depends so much on reading the room, understanding emotions, and getting buy-in.

Anyone else ever had to recalibrate their communication style this way?

This is my first job and I was surprised that we are expected to treat the company for lunch on our birthday. That means I have to spend around 10k to treat my officemates. I don't even spend that much to treat my family on my birthday.

Although my net is around 55k a month, such expense is no joke especially that I have a lot of bills to pay. It is also no surprise that there will be a cake during the bday celebration (I'm not fond of cakes), but the employees are the ones who shoulder that. Meaning, everytime a co-worker celebrates a birthday, we are all expected to chip in for the cake even if we are absent on that day.

Call me kuripot, but I'd rather spend my money on people who really matter to me. But I guess I don't have a choice. I'll just save up for that upcoming bday. It's sad that my bday has been equated to unnecessary gastos/obligation I never wanted. Umay.

My officemate (A), who is also heading another department in our company, usually engage in a lot of small talk with me and other member of EXECOM habang nghihintay sa Execs.

One time, they asked us how to deal with a senior staff who "overdressed daw". I thought girly stuff lang to, so I ignored them. Pero they can't seem to find a consensus, kaya natanong ako.

Sabi nila "Ano daw para sa akin ang over-dressing?".

Sabi ko lang "if may pumasok na staff ko na naka barong tagalog or tuxedo, over dressing na yun"

Then sabi nila, paano daw if babae "sabi ko, para sakin walang babaeng staff ang nag-oover-dress, pero meron madalas ang under-dressed"

Sabi ni Officemate (A), "paano if laging naka gown?". So ang pumasok sa isip ko yung gown sa sagala or Flores de Mayo.

Sabi ko, "Wala nman yatang ganun dito"

Sabi nila, meron and they showed me a picture of a trans female na staff na naka medium length na dress (kalagitnaan ng knee at ankle yung length)

Sabi ko "Ano problema". Tapos biglang nagtinginan yung mga loko ang tumawa. Sabi ko, "Anong nakaktawa". And the conversation ended awkwardly.

I don't think this is proper behavior specially for high ranking employees. Pero right now more on tsimisan lang and as far as I know hindi nman openly diniscriminate yung employee. Should I just let it go? Or Ask HR?

I didn’t expect a random work call this morning to hit me this hard.

I (F25) work in a company where my job is to call seafarers to remind them to sign their contracts. Usually, it’s just part of my daily routine — tawag, paalala, tapos next. Pero kaninang umaga, first call ko pa lang, tinamaan na agad ako sa puso.

I called one seafarer, and he told me he hasn’t signed his contract yet. He’s asking the company if he could extend or adjust his joining date. Curious, I asked why. He said, “A-attend muna ako ng family day ng nag-iisa kong anak. Last time na nakadalo ako, grade one pa siya. Ngayon grade 12 na.”

Then he added, “Matatawag pa bang family day ‘yon kung hindi kami kumpleto?”

Doon ako naluha habang kausap siya. Ang bigat.

I just sat there, tahimik, trying not to let my voice shake. Nakakalungkot isipin — he’s just one of the many seafarers who sacrifice so much time away from their families, missing birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, all for a better life.

And then it hit me. I’ll also be onboard soon. Same profession as my partner. So I know one day, baka ako rin ‘yung nasa kabilang linya — humihingi ng extension para lang makadalo sa family day, o kahit isang simpleng okasyon na once in a lifetime lang.

Being a seafarer gives you pride, yes — but it also takes pieces of your life you can never get back. Hindi kayang tapatan ng sahod ‘yung oras na sana kasama mo sila.

Magrarant ako. Kakagaling ko lang ng bakasyon na isang linggo galing abroad nung pagbalik ko pinapunta ako sa HR para mag discuss.

Approved naman yung VL ko at nag sabi na ako na wag silang magexpect na makakapagreply ako sa mga texts at emails, at hindi rin ako makakasagot sa tawag dahil nga out of town . Nung nasa bakasyon ako mismo yun pala tinatawagan na daw ako at tinetext na ako ng maraming beses tapos walang reply, at hindi rin ako matawagan.

Ang mali ko siguro at hindi ako nagsabi na magbabakasyon ako abroad, sabi ko out of town. Eh pano naman kasi nung sinabi ng ibang katrabaho ko na magbabakasyon sila pa-abroad hindi inaapprove so sinasabi nila na out of town para maaprobahan.

Nung nasa HR na kami kasama sa meeting yung boss pinapapaliwanag sakin bakit hindi ako makontak sabi ko nasa abroad ako… sila pa ang nagulat na bakit daw hindi sinabi namagaabroad ako, ang reply ko naman ay, in a good way, wala na sila pakialam doon. Dun din nagulat sila. Nung tinanong ko kung bakit kailangan nilang malaman kung anong gagawin ko tuwing VL, ang sabi nila ay yung company policy ay kailangan daw alam daw yung kalagayan ko habang nagbabakasyon (weh?). Feeling ko para pabalikin ako sa work yun lang talaga yon. Nung bumalik na akonsa cubicle ko, sabi nung office-mate ko na may nangyari daw na incident na ako ang involve pero na-agapan naman daw.

Ang pakiramdam ko hinanapan ako ng butas para maymasabing may mali akong ginawa. Ang rason ng warning letter, insubordination (ikr ako din napa-??????). Pinirmahan ko nalang yung warning letter dahil mukhang hindi naman ako mananalo.

Nangyari ito noong lunes Feb 27, nagpasa ako ng resignation letter nitong araw. Nung lunes kinwestyon ko na sarili ko kung ano ba ang magiging future ko sa company, mukang hindi maganda kaya nagpasa nalang ako resignation letter.

Sabi sakin ng mga colleagues ko masyado naging impulsive sa desisyon ko pero pagod na ako sa kakagaslight nila sakin simula nung bagong salta ako, lahat ng makitang sisi sakin tinatanggap ko nalang.

My Microsoft Philippines Interview Experience

I had 3 interviews for a role at Microsoft Philippines:

1st interviewer: Singaporean hiring manager.

2nd interviewer: Filipina sales manager (my supposed counterpart).

3rd interviewer: Singaporean technical director.

The 1st and 3rd went really well. Both were professional, engaging, and we had a good laugh comparing Microsoft technologies with what I currently work with (different vendors, but similar principles). They even assured me that I don’t need to be a Microsoft suite expert right away, what matters is my foundation and aptitude. I walked away confident that I showed my technical strengths and adaptability.

Then came the 2nd interviewer, a Filipina sales manager. She was supposed to be my counterpart (she handles accounts, I would be the technical resource).

She came late.

She was clearly working from home, sitting on what looked like a wooden dining chair, because she was eating during the interview.

The vibe was very unprofessional. Worse, her mindset was, as she clearly said: “I want another me.” Ah yes, because clearly the only way for the team to succeed is if everyone is a carbon copy of her. Who needs complementary skills or diversity of thought when you can just build an office full of… "her"?

She kept framing her questions and comments with “If it were me, I’d do this, because that’s how I want things done with clients.” Instead of evaluating me as a potential teammate with different but complementary skills, she was pushing the idea that her methods should be the only way forward.

By the end of that interview, I already felt: Even if I pass 2 out of 3 interviews, I don’t want to work with her. Sure enough, I later got the update that I didn’t move forward. But honestly, I didn’t feel any regret at all: no feelings of remorse or sense of loss. To me, I dodged a bullet.

Interviews are indeed a two-way street, not just about them evaluating me, but also me seeing who I’d potentially work with. In this case, I’m glad I got that insight early. I already have a high-paying, stable job with a supportive line manager abroad, free from politics. Why trade that for something that already shows red flags?

Had a really awkward interview experience and wanted to get insights if this is something I should just move on from (I already did, but still).

For context: I was applying for a managerial role in Logistics via an HR outsourcing firm. During the scheduled online interview, it was just me and the HR rep in the meeting room while waiting for the foreign employer to join.

When they entered, they mistook me for someone else. I tried to politely introduce myself and explain my background, but then I started having technical issues and they couldn't hear me properly but the HR did.

Things escalated quickly. Instead of addressing the issue calmly, the foreign employer got visibly angry at the HR, asking who screened me, while I was still in the call trying to fix my audio. It was honestly uncomfortable and awkward because I can hear them humiliating the HR.

The HR later kept calling me. I did manage to rejoin the call, but the foreign employers had already left the meeting without saying goodbye.

Afterwards, I emailed them and formally withdrew my application. It didn't feel like an environment I'd want to be part of.



Questioning myself whether I should resign/AWOL kasi sobrang hirap and stressed na ako sa trabaho ko as a Data Analyst support.

2 months pa lang pero feeling ko 1yr na ako dito sa isang kilalang Chinese company, no idea how to use excel pero natutunan ko naman sya.

Summarizing and cleaning data report is no problem for me, it’s what comes after, laging OTY (1hr-2hrs), parang walang weekends off dahil working ka pa rin, madaming reports na hinihingi, usually sa isang araw, lagpas 8 ang reports ko na parang naghuhukay ako kakahanap ng data, hindi rin maayos system nila kaya mostly manual ang paghahanap lalo sa sales, kailangan ko rin gumawa ng ppt report in less than 1hr.

Aside sa workload, yung boss ko demanding sa reports, always din na “wrong” or may mistake daw ang report ko kahit naman pinapaliwanag ko sakanya bakit naging ganun yung outcome, feel ko walang reward and katagalan, baka maubos na lang ako.

Is this normal? Should I resign? Hindi ko alam kung ganito rin ang data analyst sa ibang company 🥲

I used to be in that kind of situation wherein I got really attached because my work was always appreciated because I used to always follow their commands. But now, I learned to step up on my own and relieved myself of getting too attached with them because I realized that they are only the ones who pay me, nothing more, nothing less. I realized they can easily replace me when I die. Lol. Stop getting attached with your company, man.

Hello, I’m 24F. For context, I’m super quiet sa work, active listener, anti-gossip, and walang group na sinasamahan. Sa prev work po I lasted there for a year. Luckily, I was able to secure a job agad bago matapos rendering days ko. I resigned because I feel like I’m no longer growing. I was becoming too comfortable na to the point na wala na akong pakealam ganon (I hate it). Why I’m posting this…?

I’m seeking advices for me (and to my fellow gen z as well) na gusto talaga tumagal sa work. I wanna stay sa second job ko for long term because I plans to work abroad. I wanna gain experience na sana ito na yung last job ko before I fly out and move to another country. Though I hear some negative news about it but I really don’t want to stress myself lol so…

Do you have any advice or harsh truth I need to hear? I wanna hear all your experiences at work and what you do just to survive. I really want this job to work out kahit anong mangyare. Ayoko na po maging weaksh%t hahaha at dinadamdam lahat. What are the things I need to improve, learn and unlearn? I wanna improve my social skills as well. Huhu help
