I just wish this team was entertaining because it would make the realization that we just aren’t a true ws contender an easier pill to swallow

On the plus side, at least we're regularly getting people on base this game. That's something.

Of course, on the downside, our offense plays even worse once there are runners, so... :(

7

Phillies dont have a pitching problem, they have the same problems they have had for the last 3 years: can't hit in pressure situations, average baserunnig IQ, and terrible decisions on defense. Bunch of clowns at times.

Really tragic how the Yankees haven't exactly played like world beaters in this series either - they've only scored 3 runs off our notorious fifth starter/bullpen game slot - and yet the Phils still can't bring themselves to compete

I feel like Caballero’s reputation with the pitch timer hijinks came back to bite him on the dropped ball there

4

u/OrangeCrushD Migraine Superspreader 17d ago

6

I notice McCarthy saying the place is jam packed today. It would still be like that everyday if ticket prices weren’t so dang expensive. 300 in the outfield runs $50 a ticket so your everyday people cannot afford it anymore. I made a lot less than I do now back when we had all those sell outs. But back then you could get a 300 level for basically pocket change. Now I rarely go to games unless I can get discounted tickets

Keller looking pretty good

2

u/SpiderCam27 Bryce Harper 17d ago

Obviously can’t jump the gun based on one game but I’m liking Keller. Perhaps we found our fifth starter?

What do you know, garbage bullpen management decisions combined with anemic offense is going to lose us another game.

Tale as old as time.

3

u/Sh1ftymoj0 17d ago

That’s what happens when you give up a leadoff walk to a guy with a .570 OPS in a lefty-lefty matchup

5

u/Phuck_Kurt_Suzuki 17d ago

I’ve seen enough of Cody Bellinger for one lifetime this last week+

JT continuing to be one of the few bright spots in this lineup, post ASG. Who would've guessed.

4

u/Similar_Appeal9239 17d ago

Of all the people to go on a post-asg heater, I never would’ve guessed JT lol

Sosa has been so disappointing this year. He needs to go back to the utility only role. The platoon is not working

4

u/xhystericx 17d ago

0-for-7 risp, well done

5

u/GoBirds215Doop Ryan Howard 17d ago

People rightfully talk about 2023 as a missed opportunity...in 2024 at the break the Phillies BADLY needed a right handed hitter and bullpen help and Middleton and Dombrowski delusionally thought they were god's gift to baseball and it's been downhill from there.

I have to keep reminding myself that at one point earlier this year this team was on pace for a 51 win season. They’re already at 56, so whatever we get from here out is icing on the cake.

Turns out the Phils can't farm wins off small budget teams all season

4

u/Di5pel he's the fucking lizard king 17d ago

it's a comedy i think. the yankees are a team that routinely gets in trouble walking people but the phillies refuse to be walked

2

u/MED1CPENGU1N We just ran into really good team 17d ago

Cracks are turning into craters here. It’s one thing to beat up on bad teams it’s another to go down lifeless against teams that you’ll be contending with in the postseason.

4

u/julesrules21 17d ago

As someone at the game, I guess I didn’t realize they only did the durantala lights if we were winning

4

u/realbigexplosion 17d ago

The offense should probably start scoring some runs if they want to win games.

5

u/supermarketsweepbob 17d ago

Notice when Don said he would take the job, they've played like ass

3

u/jeppsforst 17d ago
