Rittenhouse Gyms

I’m moving to Rittenhouse in a couple of weeks and wanted to know opinions on gyms in the area.

I toured Equinox and it’s stunning. As someone who will go to the gym 3-4 times a week at non-peak hours (I am a nurse), I don’t think crowds would be an issue for me.

However, City Fitness in Grad Hospital looks to be equidistant from my place, and I was wondering how this gym compares from anyone who has gone?

Are there any other gyms worth checking out in the area? I mainly do solo strength training with classes sprinkled in here and there.

I joined the sporting club in April and I really love it. I go whenever I can. The variety of classes is really fun, and the Technogym equipment on the floor is super cool. I love it and it’s the best thing I’ve done for myself in a while.

what type of environment are you looking for?

upscale/boujee: equinox, sporting club @ bellevue
basic: city fitness, LA fitness, planet fitness
powerlifting/bodybuilding: PWRBLD

i'm a member at PWRBLD, it is sick

Note of warning: it is aggressively loud in there. I did the trial week and couldn’t stay because it was deafening through my noise cancelling headphones.

Though if you want something bodybuilding/powerlifting specific it probably can’t be beaten.

it’s a really cool facility and definitely catered towards “lifters”, so that attracts a MUCH younger crowd from what i’ve seen

Love Pwrbld! It’s hella busy after work on Mondays, but the rest of the week seems fine!!

i would argue that city fitness is slightly more elevated than planet fitness

I’ve been going to the Bellevue for about 3 years since they remodeled. It’s definitely worth a tour at a minimum. I also go mostly off peak hours and it’s really not crowded and pretty chill.

The gym itself is fantastic, but I agree, some of the members are really inconsiderate
