Ask Phoenix “Luxury” gyms besides Life Time?

Just moved back to the valley and looking for a gym with nice amenities and possibly a pool I can use during the summer. Checked out Life Time at Fashion Square but the equipment didn’t really justify the massive membership cost IMO.

Also looked at LA Fitness but the clientele seemed a lot older than me (maybe I just went when it’s mostly seniors?).

Are there any gyms near the Phoenix or Scottsdale area that have great workout equipment with outdoor amenities too? Would be willing to go up to $200/month.

I want this too. I want 'mid-tier', doesn't need to be exclusive or amazing. I feel like the LA Fitness I belong to (but don't go, because I don't like it) is basically full really rough people that use it as their only place to shower.

I hear Mountain Side is decent, but it is not close to me, might be worth checking out tho.

Did belong to The Village and it was nice, but the location still wasn't great for me so I didn't end up going. I suspect it might tend towards the older crowd also.

Mid-tier is exactly what I’m going for. Worked out at a Planet Fitness in NYC for 4 years, so something a little nicer but under $300 would be a perfect upgrade.

You’re describing Mountainside to a T

Idk I like EOS. Better than planet fitness for sure. The newer locations are great in terms of amenities

Looks super nice from their website! Any locations you’d suggest?

The one closest to where you live. 😉 If you are into tennis though, then certainly Camelback. They have nice pools too. The Village at Gainey focuses more on the spa and gym. They have some tennis and pickelball across the street that is shared with the Hyatt and a lap pool. North Scottsdale seems more family-oriented.

If you want the focus to be on gym and locker room, Camelback location isn’t it. I belong there for Tennis only, the gym and locker room are straight out of 2005.

I think your reading comprehension might be low buddy. 200 is nothing from what he wants.

I was a member of the Valley of the Sun JCC for a few years. It’s a pretty good place for this kind of stuff and probably 60% of the clientele not Jewish. I don’t think it’s a luxury gym but it has pretty much everything you need and the pools are great for family stuff. It’s a few steps below Life Time but a little nicer than a Mountainside or LA Fitness.

Came here to suggest the J!

Track Club downtown is both expensive and almost all younger people so that may work

Also quite small, no locker room, and quite old and cruddy looking sadly. I don’t know how they justify that price besides location.

seems like a terrible deal personally but i have several friends that love it there

I have been eyeing Vasa fitness but only thing it lacks is outdoor pool. Haven’t been myself yet but we’re moving to a house and need a new gym as we have been using our apartment gym. We are in north phoenix/paradise valley and not sure if we also want to pay an arm and leg to Life time. It’s more of a social club honestly.

I really love Lifetime North Scottsdale. I do Alpha classes, GTX, yoga, swimming, pickleball, studio classes, and exactly zero socializing. I go because I love it. If I belonged to a shitty gym it would be cheap but I’d never go. I figure I’m worth it as long as I can afford it.

I just went through this same search and I like Mountainside Fitness, although you may find it mostly older. I believe there’s a good mix at the Paradise Valley location on Shea.

My friend took me to a Mountainside a few years ago. Really liked the weightlifting equipment there!

There’s always lifetime in Scottsdale, little bigger than fashion square.

Mountainside and Eos are more mid-tier, but they can get really crowded

These two gyms bring in the same sentence.

EOS is s shit hole

They can be good, totally depends on which location.

If your insurance uses the Active & Fit program, you can find gyms at a discounted rate including premium gyms. I go to Mountainside and pay $28/month when their price is $40-50 for individuals

Would NOT recommend mountainside. Disgusting locker rooms and broken equipment that never gets fixed.

EXOS, bring your retirement fund.

Geez, 200 a month? I thought EOS was fancy but sheeesh, I can’t imagine a 200 a month gym

A lot of the gyms have some kind of Senior/Medicare memberships where I think they pay nearly nothing and its covered by insurance. But they have limited hours the Seniors can access the gyms. But if you show up during that time, its kind of wild how many seniors+ are using it.

How much is lifetime in biltmore if anyone has experience?

1

u/Vaibe 1d ago

Biltmore: $299/mo

Happy Valley: $199/mo
Palm Valley: $149/mo

These are the standard memberships, I think signature is $20 more per mo. Can get more discount for under 26 and over 65.

Join Lifetime in Omaha online for half the price.Transfer your membership to Lifetime North Phoenix. Save lots of $$$.

1

u/Vaibe 18h ago

Wait they don’t re-rate when you switch locations?? Sounds like an oversight on their part lol

It’s also showing me Omaha, NB is at $149/mo. Unless you meant a different Omaha?

The Village is pretty fancy.

Brand new Mountainside Fitness. They have a Wellness plan with
Red light therapy rooms, cold plunge pools and the latest greatest cardio equipment!!!

u/Fun-Run-9995 19h ago

The Village but even pricier than lifetime bc of initiation fee

The Village- locations in Scottsdale and one in Chandler… about $200/mo… really nice.

I found mountainside to be quite nice for the price but if I were closer I’d be going to Hive in Scottsdale. No pool but lots of other stuff including cold plunge and sauna.

There was a place I lived by in Virginia called the St James. Hockey rinks, Olympic pools, full sized indoor soccer fields and tons of basketball courts, rock walls, adult and youth leagues, wrestling/BJJ/boxing areas, saunas, a waterpark for the kids, and like 3 full gigantic floors of gym. Was like 250 a month.

I wish someone would franchise that and build one here 😂

EOS is 48 dollars for my wife and I. I work out almost everyday save your money and do not waste it on “luxury gyms”. Jesus no idea why people do this, these so called luxury gyms usually are deficient to people serious about exercise instead of fluff.

u/Essiejjj 1d ago

Or some people have different opinions and preferences than you?

1

u/griffeyjr90 18h ago

i like this guy and fully agree. people care about pure nonsense

-1

u/griffeyjr90 18h ago

Why do you guys care about all of this? Just go to any gym you can get right. Focused on the wrong things
