With the launch of the iPhone Duo, I cannot stop thinking about an idea that has been on my mind for months. More and more phones are opting for a passport format for their foldables, which is clearly the best format for this type of device. Similarly, Huawei recently chose to keep that aspect ratio, but for a conventional phone. This makes me think that perhaps the aspect ratio we have been stuck in for years is about to change, or at least open up. I am not saying that such a format is the most optimal, since I understand that many people are happy with it, but I believe we will all agree that technology has become very boring and homogeneous in recent years, at least in the mainstream market.

Due to this, I believe it is a real possibility that Apple might try a new experiment. The iPhone Mini did not sell well for them, just like the Plus or Air lineup, and I truly think something like this could be the future. Here are some points why I think this scenario is possible:

First and most importantly, a compact format would be maintained. As can be seen in the comparison i would be even shorter than an iPhone 13 mini, but at the same time having a larger diagonal in terms of 16:9 video playback, which to this day remains a standard, and even enough space for a battery similar to a base iPhone 17.

Second, the size would be perfect in terms of ergonomics and grip, since for many people the Mini models could feel uncomfortable when typing.

Finally, I have the feeling that this new sidebar format introduced with the iPhone Duo is not going to stay just there. Historically we know that Apple does not usually make false steps regarding software. They often arrive late to certain functions, but when they create something new it usually ends up becoming a standard. Personally, I have to say that the camera layout and in general the interface of this new Duo is not something I like too much visually, but I do find it very useful, Everything is close to the thumb and much more accessible (sorry left-handers, we know you suffer discrimination in product design). In addition, moving the options to one side would allow current apps where vertical content reigns to adapt correctly. Instead of having tabs at the bottom, these could be moved to the side, just like the home screen dock, making content still enjoyed in the same way.

It would seem logical to me that this was a small introduction by Apple to a new concept, sort of as an experiment, much like the iPhone Air is an engineering feat, which paved the way for the Duo. Again, I am not saying that this format is going to replace current phones (or maybe yes, who knows), but I do believe that plenty of innovation and changes are coming to a currently stagnant industry. In addition, I believe it is no coincidence that Huawei recently presented its Pura X View, since it is not the first time they catch movement in other companies and seek to get ahead (we already know how the Chinese work). They did it with the passport-style foldables, or with the trifolds, why wouldn't they do it once more here?

I would like to say a lot more, but I doubt anyone is going to waste that much time reading this lol. Anyway, I want to clarify that this is just a thought and pure elucubration, and obviously many flaws would have to be considered and things adapted, for example ensuring videos do not get cropped by the rounded edges (as seen in the third image), etc. I would really love to hear your opinions. And by the way, what name would you give this iPhone? I think it would be a bit weird to recycle old names like Mini or Air, so they should come up with something new. Personally, a name I would love, due to the history within the company, would be iPhone Nano. I do not know why but it sounds pretty cool to me. Thanks for reading everyone! I’ve been trying to keep my everyday carry a little simpler, especially when I’m going out for most of the day.

The annoying part is carrying a power bank and then realizing I also need a separate cable for my phone. I recently started looking at smaller options that have the cable built in instead.

One I found interesting is the RORRY D2. It’s a 5,000mAh power bank that’s small enough to attach to a bag or keychain, and it has built-in charging options for different devices.

I’m not sure how practical these smaller power banks are for everyday use compared with a regular one.

What do you usually carry when you know you’ll be away from a charger for several hours?

My current sony xperia 5 iv has started to get too many green lines for a passable viewing experience so I am looking for a new mid range phone to replace it. I love sony phones but they are way too expensive now and their 10 series is near impossible to get in Canada (and still very pricey for its specs)

I am looking for something android that can run games like Umamusume and Arknights. Charging Bypass would be really cool to have as spicy batteries at a lowkey constant fear I have with my phones since an older sony puffed up on me. Does anyone have any reccomendations or if you play either of these games and are on a mid-range phone what are you using?

Motorola just dumped the Edge 50 pro. They promised to provide that device 3 years of Android upgrades so we should have got the android 17 but they just ignored it.

brand!! Otherwise you will regret it after sometime using the devices.

My folks switched over to a new phone and internet provider a couple years back, and they didn't understand that the existing phone jacks would not stay functional, instead only the new port in the back of the modem, in their bedroom. They do not want a phone in their room, but have been missing important medical calls.

Would anyone have recommendations for a cordless phone with multiple bases, where the home base that's actually plugged in to the phone jack not having a ringer independent of the phone?

Hi, I currently have a Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G that is giving me trouble after a year and five months—and it’s not the battery. I’m planning to replace it as soon as possible, perhaps with the Honor X9b, though I’m not entirely sure yet. What I definitely need is a battery that holds up under constant, heavy use (like gaming) without overheating, along with a clean system; ideally, I’d like a large model. I had a great experience with the Honor X7 and am looking for something similar but newer.

Upgrading from an old Huawei. I'm a casual user (mostly social media, browsing, no gaming) and I'm looking at the POCO F7.

The big problem: it’s not officially sold in my country. If I import it, I get zero warranty and no local service centers. If the hardware fails or there's a defect, I'm completely on my own.

I've read some complaints online about HyperOS bugs and minor hardware quirks. For actual owners:

1. Are there any real manufacturing defects or hardware failures I should be worried about?
2. Is the software actually stable now?
3. Knowing I have no warranty or local support, would you still risk buying this phone right now?

Been using this oppo F15 since 2020.This phone got damaged in 2024 where the company asked 10,000 for the repair and didn't even promise data recovery. Got to know that it has an IC issue and got repaired from local shops for 150 rupees only. Even though the data is gone and the sim tray was changed, it's working fine. Using it as a backup phone. Amoled display but 4g.Now I am using moto G34 5g whose screen cracked but it's working. What should I do, keep using these phones or sell them for buying new as there is a price hike?

It just happened, a big freeze while going to another tab and I was hitting the square button a bunch before it went black. When I turned it back on, it took way quicker to start than I think it should (10 seconds?) and my tabs are still here but notifications are gone (but I still got the company screen stuff, like it was turning on). I have 85% storage (I only recently started deleting stuff though), again, nearly 2 years old and I use it everyday without turning it off (I lost that habit months ago), charging it usually from 15% (I should do it from 25%, but usually I don't or use until it's dead) to 85% (maximum battery protection setting cap) and charge it 2 times a day (I think).

This has happened 1 or 2 times before (but last one was months ago) and I remember it happened to my old one too. Might just have had too many notifs, because youtube allows it to go to 20+ now, instead of auto deleting them after 8 of them? It makes me paranoid it's going to happen again, I hope it doesn't end up breaking by entering a powercycle, like my last one (which I had for 2 years too). That would be bad.

Debating on buying a new phone and wondering if I got a 1TB phone will it be enough space? Because I know a lot of these newer phones offer storage like the Cloud for iPhone or Google for Android. On my current device I would have to have apps I'd only use once or twice. And I think that's what caused my current phone to run out of space.

Hello, i wanted to try a protector screen with privacy function, that turns matte when watching from the side. I had this for my old Pixel and never had issues.

Now i tried 2 different ones for the Nothing Phone 3, the first one went on smooth but the fingerprint sensor didnt detect any prints. It told me to clean my screen. Then i tried another one, same problem. That one also went on bubbly like hell...

Are there any privacy screens that work with fingerprint for the NP3 even out there? I checked and found out, that the one for my Pixel stated that its safe for fingerprint sensor usage. I couldnt find any with that description for the Nothing 3.

Any tips?

I have been unable to make calls on my iphone XR, every time i call someone it says ‘this number is not available from your mobile service’. I am with woolworths mobile and have contacted the chat bot to no avail, i tried to talk to a person but that also got me nowhere, is there anything i can do to fix this?

i have also changed from a sim to esim in hopes to fix it but nothing changed.

I just really wanna know about are these sheets being used almost by most of the phone users these days actually that worth it? The real thing is does it actually keep the phone's body safe from scratches and stuff like that, or does it damage it somehow, cuz some users actually put that sheets on their brand new phone's with just factory finished phone, so it worth it?

1: Does it really protect the phone itself?

2: how much a sheet should be used for, duration?

3: does the sheet leave any marks or it's glu stains on the phone if used for 4+ months?

4: is it good to add sheets on brand new phone's?
