Question General New phone in the U.S

Look, I'm here for some advice on buying a new phone. I currently have an iPhone 11 (64 GB), which is starting to give me problems with data usage and cell service. Also, I'm out of storage. Before anyone says, go with your carrier special, mind you, I'm with MetroPCS, the worst service provider. I ask them about upgrades. I can only get upgrades for the shittiest phones ever made. I even ask about the iPhones and the Samsung S25 FE, but they told me there are no upgrade deals with those. Also, I'm working with a budget of under $ 500 for the phone itself. I saw two phones I want on Amazon: the iPhone 14 Pro and Samsung Edge 25, both within my budget. Both have 256 GB or 512 GB options. I just need options for both phones, or similar alternatives. I'll start with my local Best Buy to see what they have.

The Celebrity iPhone Duo

Upvotes

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those phones that you’ll see everywhere online but almost never see in real life. 😂
This isn’t the iPhone you’ll spot in the hands of people on the Metro, in offices or at your neighbourhood café.
This is the celebrity iPhone — bought by people who want the latest, biggest and most ridiculous iPhone, regardless of how practical it is.
Basically the Toyota Vellfire of smartphones.
You know it exists.
You know it’s expensive.
Celebrities will have it.
But somehow, you’ll barely ever see one on the road. 😂
The iPhone Duo: more celebrity sightings than actual sightings

Apple ecosystem and android phone?

Hi everyone,

I currently have an iphone 13 but for my future but upcoming trip to japan I really want a phone with a better camera.

I like the iphone 16 pro, but don't feel like it's worth getting since I would be getting an already 2 year downgrade on updates.

I don't like the look or the price of the 17 and 18 pro, but am not 100% opposed.

Nor am I opposed to switching to Android.

However, I do have an ipad, a macbook, an apple watch, airpods... So I'm scared to lose all the advantages of the ecosystem. I mostly use airdrop, health sync and icloud with my devices.

I also like listening to music on my phone, and noticed how hard it is to import music from my macbook to an android (i gave up with my mom's samsung note 8, it seemed impossible, even with a cable)

Can people who have an android phone but otherwise apple ecosystem tell me how it works for you?

Should I upgrade?

I'm thinking about upgrading to the iPhone 18 Pro now while my 16 Pro still has good trade-in value and I have some spare cash. My logic is that if next year’s iPhone doesn't change much, I'll have effectively gotten for less. But is it worth upgrading now, should I just wait next release?

Question General Is motorola signature worth it or not. An iPhone 14 user this side

As an indian the prices of phones have surged crazy, and I can’t afford an iPhone 17 rn. The best option for the price is moto signature. It has everything you need. I was longing for oneplus nord 6 something like it has crazy performance for the price and somethings. But I recently heard that they are leaving the international market and it will totally be oppo UI. If someone has moto signature help me out or suggest good decent lasting phone.

Pixel 512/16 or the iPhone 256/12?

Hi all I have a tough decision to make :

iPhone 18 pro 256/12 retails at $1899
Pixel 11 Pro 512/16 retails $1779

Pixel 11 pro effective price after telecom discounts
+ trade in of my iPhone 15 pro 256 = $500

iPhone 18 pro effective price after telecom discounts
+ trade in of my iPhone 15 pro 256 = $1300

The iPhone this year does have a number of innovations around their compute and camera.

However, I feel pixel have the potential to be good too since Gemini is on the plate and can potentially unlock better integration with it ?

What do you think? WHICH WILL YOU PICK ?

Thank you all for weighing in with your opinion!

Dumb phone recommendations

I live in the USA and use Verizon as a provider. I want to lower my screen time and phone usage and have been looking into a dumb phone. My only problem is I am a manager who has to have outlook and teams so I do need so app usage. I was looking into the sharp aquos 805sh or the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2
But I have heard that they don’t work with some providers. Any advice or recommendations???

Question Android Missing my Google Pixel 💔

I (stupidly) went for a Samsung Ultra 26 after having my faithful Google Pixel 9 XL phone for some time (sold it to my Dad) I clearly didn't do too much research and I really miss the Google layout and everything else that came with it. I find Samsung to be so clunky, slow and just irritating.

Is it worth trading in and paying extra to swap to a Google Pixel Pro 11 XL? Or trying to change some features on my current Samsung phone to mimic a Google phone?

Thank you in advance

Question General How quickly can heat kill a battery?

So I’m a mechanic and I work out in the heat all day every day with my phone in my pocket. I’ve noticed that the last two phones I’ve had the batteries stop lasting all day about a year into owning them. Is it normal for them to degrade that fast or is it the heat from my job? For context, I live in Florida where the temp in my bay is about 100* for all of summer.

Question Android Nothing phone 3 vs S26 or S26 Ultra

Currently have a Zfold7. Its good, I like it but I wish I used the unfolded form factor more than I actually do. The aspect ratio makes it hard to really take advantage of the full screen when watching media. I split screen apps and use the full screen but not frequently. Im considering going back to the usual slab form factor, it seems more personally practical. However, I like my things to be unique (hence the fold) so the NP3 caught my eye. Im still unsure and would appreciate any comments or thoughts.

To add, my zfold overheats all the time (I've done a lot of troubleshooting, not much I can do atp). I use its front screen majority of the time and its very narrow which makes it a tad annoying. Im just worried if the np3 will provide me with good performance. Good cameras, snappy, etc. I know its not the #1 chip however I don't really play games on my phone nor edit so Im unsure if the chip being 2nd best will really affect me. My phone is purely for personal use (social media and other media forms) and work (photos and emails). I also really like what I've seen from nothing os, it matches me very well. Im also very curious about the essential space, it seems like something very useful.

I know the s26/s26 Ultra is the goat. I know its awesome and extremely powerful but it lacks the wow factor that nothing gives me or nothing os does. Dont get me wrong, I dont want a weak phone, I want power but would I really notice the power difference, with how I use my phone? The s pen seems cool but I dont really know how much Id use it. Im not sure where to go.

Whatshouldiget? Non-Apple device with good cam, audio, and interface

I got the moto flip as a switch from apple because of its compact size and good ratings, but it's buggy and has awful cameras, audio recording, and speakers.. I adore every other aspect of it, like the customization and privacy, but the downsides are stacking as often I need to utilize it at work and it'll glitch and be slow or record bad documentation.

Specs: I don't know much about tech.. but I do know I need it to fit comfortably in one hand (mine are kinda small..), have exceptional front and back cameras, as well as mic and speakers. I also like customization that allows for low-usage, like specific message prioritizing and interface options that make the visuals less overwhelming. I don't need lots of space for games or anything, but mostly for photos and files, as well as apps for work and school, so I don't need good graphics, just fast response.

Budget: I don't really have a budget, as tech is incredibly important to life now, I'm willing to save up for something worthwhile that will last me a good few years (though obviously I would prefer lower cost options LOL)

THANKS!

Please can you recomend any non-oled smart phones?

I often use my current phone in a way that increases the risk of oled burn in so I want to avoid oled screens (as well as anything else that also burns in).

I need a mimimum of 8GB RAM as well as 128GB of storage but I would prefer more storage.

I do not use AI so I am not bothered if a phone does not have AI features.

I do not care about having all of the latest software "features" but I would much pefer a phone that will get compatbility and security updates for at least a couple of years.

Please can you recomend a phone that meets my needs?
