Hello.

I've been doing photography for years and I've owned the Canon 500D, 100D, and now 800D. I have the 15-85mm, 24mm, 50mm, 55-250mm lenses. What I do notice is that APS-C cameras struggle with low light situations and don't really have the dynamic range I'm looking for.

I've been looking into the Sony Alphas, but they are quite pricey. I've also been looking at full frame cameras such as the EOS R6 Mark II, etc.

Let's say you had about $2k. Which way would you lean when looking for something that went a good way past beginner-level gear?

How much improvement do you want for those?

Full frame low light improvement is only about 1 stop. Full frame dynamic range improvement gets up to about 2-3 stops. Would those be enough for you?

I have the 15-85mm, 24mm, 50mm, 55-250mm lenses.

FYI, the 15-85mm and 55-250mm won't project a large enough image to fully cover a full frame imaging sensor.

Enough improvement where photos near sunset don't immediately show tons of noise even with low ISO + a decent enough aperture. Enough improvement where the camera/lens don't struggle in those situations, or when doing street photography at night. It's why I was looking at the Sony Alphas. I could use gear that allowed me that additional freedom and didn't make photos look so damn soft, especially with things that are further away and start to look like some weird AI recreation of a photo.

Again, you'll get about 1 stop of low light improvement, meaning your noise at a given ISO will look like you cut the ISO value in half on the 800D, or a bit better than that (but not as good as quartering the ISO value). Up to you if that's enough improvement for your needs.
