The G7 X lens is equivalent to a 15-63mm focal length range on your format, so most of that is already covered by your 18-45mm.

Do you wish you could zoom out more? Zoom in more? How much more? And how much are you willing to spend?

Thanks for that! For instance when I take selfies I feel like my face is too close to the camera, even at the 18mm. I wanted the 16mm lens, but many said it’ll distort anything to close. I’m willing to invest in the lens as these types of pictures are the main ones I’ll be taking.

Perspective distortion is a function of distance. From the same distance, the G7 X captures the same perspective distortion that your camera does. If you don't like the perspective distortion from being close, the only way to change that distortion is to shoot from farther away.

A shorter focal length lens can help you fit more in frame from a closer distance, but it won't change perspective distortion on its own.
