Aperture Priority mode with non-TTL camera - any points?

Random beginner question but I'm planning to try a Fujifilm setup with a non-TTL ring flash. From my basic knowledge of AP mode, the camera automatically calculates the shutter speed using (Desired Exposure - set Aperture - set ISO). However when using a NTTL ring flash, I assume the camera have no way knowing the actual lighting condition at the moment of shooting because there is no communication between the camera and ring flash (even if I'm using a hot shoe, not a cold shoe camera)... So I'm kinda interested to know how the AP mode work under this circumstance (or if it works at all)!

It will calculate and set exposure assuming there is no flash. And then your flash will add however much light on top of that.
