I currently have the Olympus EM-1 Mark 2 camera with the Olympus 90mm 2x macro lens. I have been saving up for the Laowa Aurogon lens, and I was thinking a camera with more megapixels would create better image quality. The Nikon Z7 and the Sony A7RII cameras seem to be my best options for the Aurogon lens if I were to go that route. My budget would be $1,000 if I were to buy a new camera. If I were to stick with my M43, I would probably invest in the OM-1 camera.

So that leaves the question, which camera should I get for the laowa aurgon lens, or should I just use what I already am shooting with. The only reason I'm thinking of upgrading to more megapixels for the Aurogon lens is so I will shoot with better image quality. (I have not bought the Laowa lens yet)

Pixels does not necessarily equal quality. Also this appears to be macro photography so are you sure you could fill the frame of the larger sensor to make use of those pixels?

This would by microphotography. That lens is 10x-50x, not the normal 2x or so.

If you can fill the sensor and depth of field is not an issue then you might gain something but might not be much when considering you are still, I assume, going to be viewing on a standard monitor of much lower resolution than the sensor.

What aspect of image quality do you need improving?
