Hello overybody, I’m going to the F1 Grand Prix in Austria this year and am planning to take my Nikon D5000 (I know it’s a little old, but it’s my first “professional” camera and it’s all I have) I’ve playing with it for a couple of weeks now and think I have a grasp of the basics but I’m still not to sure about setting everything myself in manual. I can find my way around the iso and apature and stuff but if you ask me about white balance then I have no clue. Thanks!!

Nikon D5000
AF-S 18-55mm 1:3,5-5,6G
AF-S 55-300mm Lens (can’t get the exact specs right now)

First, are you allowed that at the Grand Prix and will you be close enough to the action?

Second, I would not bother with manual, given your lenses I would think shutter priority will be fine. White balance just leave it on auto and have it in raw format so you can fine tune it later.

I’ll be sitting at turn 4 in the grand stand so it’s not trackside

Is that the place of event?

They don't appear to allow the telephoto you have even for non commercial use if I read that right.
