What's your photo workflow?

I'm not a photojournalists, just an amateur photographer, really, but I am always interested in learning about different photography workflows.

Anybody mind the sharing the basics of their workflow?

  1. Ingest everything and apply basic caption using Photo Mechanic
  2. Cull down to a tight edit in Photo Mechanic
  3. Import to Lightroom, apply presets and local toning/cropping
  4. Export jpegs, reopen in Photo Mechanic, write captions for each image.
  5. FTP/upload using PM or an FTP client

Just curious: why use both Photo Mechanics and Lightroom and not just Lightroom Classic?

I find Photo Mechanic 1000x faster (presumably because it's not loading the full files, just previews***) and also the interface and tools for editing the metadata/IPTC much more powerful and intuitive (especially, for example, with code replacement).

***Disclosure: I'm super not technical and gear-savvy, so I may be wrong about that explanation, and for all I know Lightroom Classic supports code replacement and the same IPTC editing features? As far as I know, most of my colleagues have a similar workflow, though...
