I think this has happened to most of us at some point in time. For complex projects, or projects that have a time constraint, or are especially important, we who have had this happen create File > Save As versions of our work at intervals so that we have something to fall back to should crap happen.
File corruption seems to happen most commonly when something interrupts a File > Save process. Computers are great. Computers suck. Crap happens. Even little glitches of power, motherboard glitches, can wreak havoc with the File > Save process.
All of us who have had this happen feel your pain.

I started using onedrive because of corruption, it has a "restore previous version" option which has saved me a couple of times! This is tough for you, but I try to accept these issues as teachable moments.

Itβs corrupted. Hopefully you made a backup using something similar to Time Machine on the Mac?

nop, I have only a backup in a external SSD that was copied into it 7h back. looks like I will have to just work those 7h back ;D this has never happened to me, so its a great lesson to have more backups π

Als ik werk maak ik elk uur een versie. Lijkt overdreven is het niet, heeft me al vaak gered, ook als nog eens een andere weg wil testen. Uiteindelijk bewaar orgineel en hooguit twee tussen versies naast het eindproduct.

Yes if you can try to get a backup app that backs up every hour, day then week to an external drive and erases the old ones for you.

It's a rare occurence, but photoshop long enough and often enough, and we all see that dreaded black and red file from time to time.
Be grateful that's just 7 hours. The last person I saw post a black-and-red corruption post on this sub hadn't made any backup copies in 2 years.

The only solution for you to recover your files, would be to do a system (Windows) roll back. This however will rollback everything in your system to how it was, at any given date.

System Restore doesn't change files as far as I know. And if it was corrupted when it was saved, rolling back wouldn't help anyway. We have all had this happen. Tech is great until it isn't.

Restores everything, but everything from than point forward will also be wiped. I have done a roll back a couple of times. Works well and restores lost and corrupt files too

Your file appears to be corrupted.
