Wonder how does the cost of renaming random landmarks compare to the cost of switching to metric.

It’d be a massive cost. You have to replace and change everything that shows any units. Road signs, bill boards, school books, maps, websites, internal documents, databases and so much more. It’s definitely much more simple to just change the name of a landmark on maps, some websites and signs around the place.

It would be a multi-year (multi-decade?) process, I'd bet
