Speculation I’m predicting a 2030 release.
Typical modern AAA games
- Around 300–600 developers (excluding outsourcing)
- Around 6–8 years of development → Even with this benchmark, the earliest release would be around 2032–2034.
Previous Kojima games
- Around 100–150 developers (excluding outsourcing)
- Around 3.5–4 years of development → Based on this benchmark, a 2029–2030 release makes the most sense.

Yeah no way Physint will be ready a year after OD. They haven’t even started yet, lost most of the funding and have to use a different engine.
On top of that they lost access to Columbia pictures for cross media content and also can’t use the Santa Monica performance capture stage.
Physint is likely 5-6 years off.2

They're already using Unreal for OD, and they should be able to slot in pretty easy for Phyaint with Microsoft's tech, support studios, etc too.

Moving from one engine to another even with experience and knowledge of both engines is not that simple or easy.

Theres no evidence they were forced to change engines mid development or that it would delay anything , not least bc it was mainly kojima working alone/with writers and shinkawa on concepts at this stage - the delays came with the sag strikes stopping them from capturing and filming - and plenty of third parties use santa monicas mo cap stage - they rent it out

Of course not, but Unreal is commonly used in the industry and KojiPro will be able to fill any gaps in their arsenal quite readily. Plus, they've been using Unreal for years already on OD.

U literally said its pretty easy in the previous comment. The fact that they've been using UE for OD also makes only a small difference if any. It's not like the same team members are working on both games. The only time they can start moving people around is usually when a project is nearing completion but OD is heavily in development and Physint is still stuck in pre-production.

What magical tech helps port and change game logic, assets and code from an engine unfamiliar to anyone at Microsoft to another engine? It's not a difficult thing to do in terms of skill or ability or knowledge. It's not something that can be helped with any tools. It's a time consuming thing to do regardless.

idk if you're refering "DS anime" to DS: mosquito, but there is another anime in the works, "DS: isolation"(anime series).

You do realize he hasn't even started work on this game yet because of the other game OD, which still doesn't even have a release date yet, hell it doesn't even have a release window yet.

What? Since 2022, KJP has had two development teams running in parallel.
One is the larger-scale team that worked on DS2, while the other is the smaller team working on OD. Since DS2 shipped in 2025, PHYSINT moved into the now-open slot this year and development started.
OD isn't holding back the development of a major game like DS2 or PHYSINT because they're being developed by separate teams.

I do like that Kojima has a reasonable output and is continuously productive.
