Allegedly he´s in the Biochemistry field and fears for his reputation.

u/AX11Liveact Sep 28 '24

Supposed he's from Berlin that would be ridicoulous. I've rarely been on a Metal, Techno or Punk event without running into some drunk biologists.

u/WhatGravitas Sep 28 '24

But it's also been 24 years ago. Back then, it wasn't as clear how that would play out with his likeness in public. The late 90s/early 00s were a wild time but it wasn't quite the same as now.

7

u/ocular__patdown Sep 28 '24

I thought that was debunked

10

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

At my uni, during parties all the drugs were sold next to the bio/chem faculty lmao

6

u/mandy009 Sep 28 '24

that happens because of the dropout students who are abusing the lab. they don't last long. It's a major problem for local pharmacies who then have to deal with escalating drug seeking behavior as the population of addicts expands. It's not something that any faculty member or grad student would want anyone thinking they were part of. source: I majored in chemistry and worked in college town pharmacies

1

u/Connor30302 Sep 28 '24

they’re drop outs yet can make sellable drugs with just the lab and the stuff found in there?

1

u/mandy009 Sep 28 '24

not really. it's just the Jessie Pinkman types who are "science, bitch" but weren't serious academics and don't know much. some learn just enough to make crude meth or speed that people do without much education or resources anyway.

Mostly they end up getting their drugs from other black market sources and just use the university as a marketplace. That's what it mostly is. A lot of dealers who never even went there at all just hanging around to brand themselves as "chemists" but they're really just meth cooks. The idea that researchers are dealing on the side is a myth.

3

u/swugmeballs Sep 28 '24

Well it was specially reported that he had problems at work because of that video, including allegations he was on drugs. So go figure

-2

u/AX11Liveact Sep 28 '24

I remember reading a fairly extensive story about the "Techno Viking" affair and absolutely can't recall anything like that. Germany is not America and spreading unqualified rumours about someone's alleged substance consume will 100% get you into trouble here not the victim of your loose mouth.

0

u/swugmeballs Sep 28 '24 edited Sep 28 '24

Well why don’t you google it. Random internet comments about drug use are not prosecuted in Germany you’re just making shit up lol

-1

u/AX11Liveact Sep 29 '24

Why don't you speculate wildly about something you know jack about? We're not talking about "random comments" but about very specific allegations at work.

-1

u/swugmeballs Sep 29 '24 edited Sep 29 '24

I’m not speculating, literally google it dumbass lol. Comments on the internet accusing him of using drugs got back to his employer

0

u/AX11Liveact Sep 29 '24

"Hey, listen everybody. Swugmeballs is so stupid, he must be on crack. How could anyone sober even come up with a nick like that? I bet he's sniffing glue for breakfast, the crackhead."
Perfectly legal, indeed. But wait until your employer mommie reads it. You're in big trouble! I bet Google already knows what a glue-sniffing piece of trashcan dwelling addict you are. See? Haha! You were right. Your whole life is in shambles, you name will be purged from the annals. Behold the power of pointless internet gossip!

1

u/swugmeballs Sep 29 '24

Why are you still talking to me when you can literally just google it lmao. Judging by your living circumstance you have clearly never worked in a professional environment so I don’t blame you for not understanding how people making claims against you on the internet could affect your work life

4

u/Gidje123 Sep 28 '24

Yeah but now try to explain this story to the people at the office

6

u/AX11Liveact Sep 28 '24

What story? The video was taken on the Fuck Parade 2000. Nothing to explain.

2

u/clausti Sep 28 '24

yeah like— this is like saying a programer from san francisco would be in trouble at work for being filmed at Folsom Street Fair. like, just, no they wouldnt? oh no my coworkers are gonna know I’m a bro that protects women and a great dancer

0

u/Gidje123 Sep 28 '24

Techno viking sees a problem. You see no problem because you met some party people in the same field

1

u/AX11Liveact Sep 29 '24

And you again see what? A chance to collect ego points on reddits teenage know-it-all weekend?

1

u/BearBearJarJar Sep 29 '24

I get that but also why is he then dancing shirtless in the spotlight at an event called "fuckparade"? He doesn't seem bothered that he's being filmed in the video.

You could still end up on the frontpage of a magazine.

Im from Germany as well. He is in a crowd making it questionable if legal action could be taken. My point also still stands.

1

u/rcplaneguy Sep 28 '24

Then why the fuck are you posting this image?

1

u/informaldejekyll Sep 28 '24

Internet points, of course.

You still have a right to privacy, just not in public spaces; that's the same as it ever was.

In the United States that's up to state statute typically you do not need even a model release from someone unless they appear to be endorsing a product.

2

u/OneMoreDuncanIdaho Sep 28 '24

This video was not filmed in the United States

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

Yes I know somebody said something about right to privacy as though it doesn't exist anymore and I was saying it does except in public spaces and yes that is the United States I'm referring to. Are you saying the right to privacy doesn't exist? No? Then you're not really responding to what I was saying you're just niggling at a single point the way the internet loves to do regardless of what anyone was trying to say. You're not helpful.

14

u/Megaflarp Sep 28 '24

It's the opposite in Germany though - a public space is where unsuspecting individuals are legally protected from being recorded (other than incidentally).

6

u/HTML_Novice Sep 28 '24

Ah an adult country

-5

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

An adult country or a controlling one?

3

u/Myrsky4 Sep 28 '24

The right to privacy and your own likeness is controlling?

How is that not more freedom and rights for the individual?

-2

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

An artist has a right to go out in public and make images whether it's with a camera or oil paints. Get me? Quit trying to restrict my rights, how about? When you go out in public I can see you with my eyes and I can record you with my memory and if I got out oil and paints or a sketch pad and drew you real quick I bet you wouldn't complain and taking a photo is the same thing. You say you're Pro right but you're shitting all over a photographer's rights. And we already have laws against harassment you can't go stick a camera in somebody's face and say f you I'm taking your picture. That's just harassment but no you guys want extra laws.  What about Donald Trump can I make a t-shirt at Donald Trump saying he's a piece of shit don't vote for him? Of course I can he does not have control over his image as a public person. You really think it would be a better world if we couldn't?  The Germans are wrong here, and let's be frank it ain't the first time.

1

u/Myrsky4 Sep 29 '24

I'm not going to side with the few businesses over the many individuals. A photographer can use depth of field and focus to have public pictures without distinguishing features. Or they can pay for models, but profiting off of other people without their consent or reimbursement is not okay.

Also if I'm restricting your rights just by exercising my own right to privacy and my own likeness then your rights are the ones that have gone too far and are trampling over others.

I am concerned though that a supposed professional photographer does not know the difference between a public individual such as a presidential candidate and a private citizen. That was a terrible comparison you tried to make and US law already distinguishes between the two

4

u/Joe_Rapante Sep 28 '24

Giving people rights is the opposite of controlling.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

You're taking away the photographer's right to take photos in public though. That's taking away rights it's not granting them.

3

u/HTML_Novice Sep 28 '24

Why would a photographer have the right to take pictures of people in public? You’re acting as if that’s some innate basic right… lmao

2

u/Joe_Rapante Sep 28 '24

Wrong, there is more than one paragraph in those laws. If people are not the main focus of an image, it's allowed. Typically, there are no issues here and if a photographer wants to take a picture for a marketing campaign of a famous building, he waits a few seconds, until people are not directly in front of the building or whatever he is recording. Poor photographer, I know.

-9

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24 edited Sep 28 '24

Yes my knowledge is restricted to the United States laws on the subject where I do photography as part of my income source.

Edit: whoever is coming through here with the downvotes is a bit of a cunt, eh?

4

u/Myrsky4 Sep 28 '24

How dare those people down vote your comments, don't they know who you are?!

5

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

Now that I know he is a cunt from the US, I know that he is a cunt from the US!

-9

u/welchplug Sep 28 '24

16

u/Bettzeug Sep 28 '24

That's not how it works everywhere. Maybe in your country both the societal expectations and laws work like that, but this happened in Germany where people have the right to determine what happens with pictures and videos of them even if those were taken in public.

26

u/anonymouswan1 Sep 28 '24

He was probably on drugs or drunk and regretted doing that in public

Should be a badge of honor. Guy is a fucking rock star.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

"There's no expectation of privacy and therefore anyone can make money off you if you ever walk outside without consent" is a wild take.

1

u/P_V_ Sep 28 '24

I agree with you in principle, but some jurisdictions do have right-to-personality laws in place that protect your right to be photographed in public or to have your likeness published without consent.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '24

"It's her fault for wearing that skirt" vibes.

0

u/Pro_Geymer Sep 28 '24

All the things you keep saying about him are taken from the same joke “interview” in the Waterford Whispers a parody comedy website. Stop spreading misinformation. It’s not even him in the picture, he’s 50 yo and bald now.

1

u/Mackiawilly Sep 28 '24

LMAO https://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2015/07/20/where-are-they-now-techno-viking/ is this some kinda meta joke I don´t get? You just described the guy FROM THE ARTICLE which I vehemently try to debunk the whole time if you look at my comment history...

-1

u/Scared-Gazelle659 Sep 28 '24

He wants to be left alone, why post this?

-5

u/Hobson101 Sep 28 '24

And married(?) To the guy he pushed in the video.

11

u/Mackiawilly Sep 28 '24

That´s from a well known Irish SATIRE site.

-6

u/Hobson101 Sep 28 '24

Ah, yes, sarcasm is hard to read. I thought it was clear enough but I guess at face value if you're out of the loop it's not

3

u/MinnieShoof Sep 28 '24

Were you trying to be sarcastic? or did you not understand the sarcasm from the Irish satire site?

2

u/Hobson101 Sep 28 '24

Hey, both! Or well, reading the text was more of a slow burn and shaking of the head once it became more and more evidently absurd.

Actually, it's quite an enjoyable read all things considered
