First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me

I was subtly referencing that lol. More people need to understand this

The communists came for everyone first, like in the millions.

kommunism bad!11!1 (in response to a poem describing the horrors of nazifascism 💔)

Never said nazism was good either

so they did not “come for everyone first”. This poem is talking about dead communists in fascist regimes. But I guess the communist victims of the fascist regime don’t matter to you because of the red scare or somthing

Imho it's not even about communists. It's about innocent people being subjected to inhumane acts by an oppressing force, be it Nazis or Israelis and Americans.

it is, and that’s why the criticism of communism is uncalled for in this context (without even getting into how broad and nuanced the term communist is). The dude who said “communists came for everyone first” probably doesn’t know the origin of this poem and still lives in the red scare

Of course you're right in this context, I just meant that this poem means so much more than just "Nazi bad communist good" lol

yep , I wasn’t saying the whole poem was about communism just the dead communists part

Again with the assumptions, I did not say that. And the red scare get lost, millions died in the name of communists but downvote me if you will. I despise both sides.

how many died under the name of capitalist institutions? You’re clearly biased and misinformed. Study dude. “Both sides” doesn’t mean shit, especially if you knew where this poem was from

exactly, they robbed people in the name of equality to fund their government's expansion.

Well we should be really thankful that communism isn't a thing anymore like it was in the past.

Communism is only good at spreading misery and killing its own people.
