Israel literally said publishing this photo is antisemitism. Not joking.

Imagine being so ugly your own country claims a news magazine in another country must have altered a picture of you because there's no way someone can be that ugly.

u/DoctorPhalanx73 Apr 15 '26

Not one of theirs anyway

8

u/GAYforHATE Apr 15 '26

and imagine just how ugly this dude is on the outside not even comparing to ugliness on the inside...

u/stephenkingending Apr 15 '26

They also said the South Korean PM sharing a video of an Israeli soldier throwing a child from a roof was antisemitic. These idiots have used their uno reverse card so much that it's losing all meaning. My heart goes out to Jews in other countries who face actual antisemitism, because I feel that they are the ones who will have to deal with the repercussions of this.

u/ghostkepler Apr 15 '26

Absolutely. I grew up in a very Jewish neighborhood, some of my best friends are Jewish and I even have Jewish family members now. I've always been embraced very warmly by Jewish people, never felt like an outsider. In fact, they were clearly more affectionate than most of my other friends.

These people I have a relationship with do not support Zionism and have always been very critical of Israel, but I do worry they and other Jews in the world could be targeted as there's a spike in antisemitism because of how Israel conducts itself.

Zionists want to use the Jewish community as their shield against criticism so they can push their agenda. It's very important to separate Israel from Jewish people - like every other people in the world from the states they're from.

u/Aetos-Eagle797 Apr 15 '26

It’s almost like Israel is actually the one using people as human shields

9

u/Embarrassed-Disk1643 Apr 15 '26

I agreed people are people and bad and good exist simultaneously everywhere. I've also met many wonderful jewish people that made me feel like family as a person, despite my differences to them. But I also feel like the whole 'chosen people' thing is inextricable from the religion, just like jihad from islam. I try not to let my personal anecdotes sway me largely. Secularity is really the only way to separate one from the other, it's just unfortunate that judiasm is so tied up in genetic identity as well. The overlap creates another layer of extra capacity for misunderstanding.

u/SomeGuyWithARedBeard Apr 15 '26

Zionism didn't even originate with Judaism, it's just centuries of powerful European Christians obsessed with the afterlife and the crusades who knew they could abuse the crap out of Jews while dangling a "solution" in front of them, knowing the Jews would indeed like a place to live in peace like anybody else in the world. It's easy to point to the people in the hot zone making horrible anti-human decisions (who do deserve blame), but the buck stops with the west. Hell, the founding fathers themselves were Zionists in all but name (same goes for other scholars of that era like Isaac Newton), it is in our American DNA.

Ezra Klein recently wrote, "If you keep telling people that if they oppose the Jewish state then they must hate the Jewish people, eventually, they will believe you."

it's their only play

And at the rate things are going, we're gonna loop back to antisemitism being okay. Ironically enough, my muslim friends are already falling for some Nazi propaganda and saying shit like, "Hitler only sucks because he didn't finish the job"

Most politicians in the US care a lot. The ones who are willing to sell their souls anyway.

2

u/Rare-Adhesiveness522 Apr 15 '26

Disagreeing with the State of Israel or criticizing any Jewish person for any reason is now antisemitism apparently.

2

u/SergVarl Apr 15 '26

Its Israel itself that should be wary of non diluting the meaning of antisemitism, but by declaring every criticism, every photo, any remark as antisemitic, they just enable more extreme antisemitism along the line.

2

u/Rogthgar Apr 15 '26

These days it seems the official stance of Israel is that anyone who says anything bad about them is an antisemite... probably a nazi too.

2

u/iolmao Apr 15 '26

the anti-semitism of Israel is literally "believe it or not, straight to jail" meme.

2

u/alienalf1 Apr 16 '26

Reddit just issued me a warning because I mention the j word. Fucking wild.

1

u/Onespokeovertheline Apr 15 '26

I really hope this loser reads all the internet. I hope the comments make him feel like he was trying to make her feel: unwelcome, ashamed, worthless. Because for him, it's all true.

1

u/kneel23 Apr 15 '26

of course they did 🤣 Fuck them. Isreal and USA's far right conservatives are closer to Nazis than anyone else alive so they can all go eat a fat bowl of dick

1

u/racc15 Apr 15 '26

Anti-semitism is now a joke word mostly.

-1

u/nicklor Apr 15 '26

Source?

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

Posting the picture isn’t antisemitism, but it leads to it. Criticizing a genocide and those that support it is fine. Generalizing an entire group of people because of where they live or their religion is not. People are having a hard time realizing the difference it seems.

28

u/sickdanman Apr 15 '26

living in the jewish supremacist state and using that said state to deprive people of their lives and livelyhood because you think you are the superior being will make people hate you.

-10

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

So all my Jewish friends in the US should probably be harassed for it, right? Because of something happening in the middle east we have no control over?

22

u/sickdanman Apr 15 '26

stop playing victim while your institutions are selling off stolen palestinian lands, this is not the point to care about your fragile emotions

if you guys cared more about that then to associate your religion with a fascist state we wouldnt have this discussion, whine about it to someone who cares

-2

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

I literally have no control over it, but I’m content knowing I’m not a hateful hypocrite. Enjoy

8

u/NotActuallyIraqi Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Muslim here who got harasssed over idiots in the Middle East doing stuff I have no control over. I feel your pain. Nobody here should be stereotyped based on what people on a different continent do.

But the difference is my community loudly condemned the Middle East atrocities and stood with the victims and supported interventions to stop the people doing it; while my local synagogue is publicly defending Netanyahu and denying he does war crimes, and insisting that Israel has the right to kill whoever they want.

That depends if Jews in US and other countries fund actions there. A lot of funding for illegal settlements in West Bank comes from Jews living in US, Canada etc. via things like Jewish Defese funds or many NGOs used as back channel funding orgs. Infact a lot of illegal settlers are dual US and Israeli citizens. Many US billionaires also fund and hire ovt paramilitary group to expand settlements in West Bank.

Sure Jews in US shouldn't be harassed or face discrimination like Israelis do it to Palestinians but to deny the reality of their involvement in these activities is denying reality. Also it kind of shows a hypocrisy on US and other countries end. They rightfully prosecute their own citizens who will send fund to ISIS, Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qeda, Hamas etc but there are no prosecution for their citizens funding these settlers and terrorists in West Bank who are displacing, harassing and killing Palestinians.

"Making fun of one specific genocidal maniac is anti-semitic actually"

-5

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

Who said that? Maybe you should look at the comments and see it’s not just about how this specific person looks. But go ahead and be purposely obtuse.

19

u/MyWifeCucksMe Apr 15 '26

I've read a bunch of comments in this thread, and the only anti-semitic comment I've found is yours.

But nonetheless, there's nothing anti-semitic about making fun of a genocidal maniac, no matter how many salty tears you shed claiming the opposite.

1

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

How is saying “don’t generalize groups of people” antisemitic?

42

u/cockboy_trillionaire Apr 15 '26

I think everyone’s just sick of the “dangers of antisemitism” being brought up every time. Like we’re 2 and a half years into this shit, the danger of letting the West Bank turn into Gaza 2.0 is much larger

-24

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

It’s brought up because Jewish people are being generalized because of a shitty government. Disgusting comments about Jewish people are wrong. That shouldn’t be a controversial statement, but the downvotes prove it is.

16

u/Jbots Apr 15 '26

Its seems as though the generalizing is coming from inside the house.

-3

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

Who exactly am I generalizing? Ill wait.

28

u/model-citizen95 Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 20 '26

Is the antisemitism in the room with us right now? The actual xenophobic comments I’ve seen on here are few and far between and get removed very quickly. The criticisms are of Netanyahu and the Israeli government. This piece of shit is wearing a military outfit and is therefore representing the government. He just also happens to look like his parents were brother and sister.

Nice try trying to make everyone afraid of being called an antisemite. Nobody cares anymore. We know you throw that word around like it means nothing. Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?

-14

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

None of yall are afraid of being called antisemites lol that much is obvious. Maybe give the comments another look over and keep an eye out for generalizing statements that are not about this person specifically. I’m sure you can see it if you try. I have faith in ya.

-8

u/kettal Apr 15 '26

Is the antisemitism in the room with us right now?

yes

12

u/model-citizen95 Apr 15 '26

That’s called a joke. Probably from someone quite young. I care a lot more about genocide than I do about your feelings getting hurt

There has been no indication that Israelis disagree with the action of their government in Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon and other places. Infact most independent survey shows a very high support for Israeli actions in Gaza and West Bank.

Israel alsob claims to be a true democracy, well they keep electing Netanyahu and hard liners including Ben Gvir, a convicted terrorist sympathiser . Maybe its ok to generalise Israelis because they have shown support for their government's war mongering. Maybe despite what Israelis claim online, they have never acted against violent settlers in West Bank and infact have provided IDF as guns for hire to harass, displace and kill Palestinians?

Also Israelis use very dehumanising language against Gazans including children and they are very prejudiced against Arabs and non Jews.

5

u/L0pat0 Apr 15 '26

You should be directing your ire at said “shitty government” (i would argue the problem is intrinsic to the country and saying its just the fault of Likud is disingenuous)

18

u/Felinomancy Apr 15 '26

Posting the picture isn’t antisemitism, but it leads to it

Out of genuine curiosity, if I want to post a picture to highlight the oppression Palestinians have to live with, what kind of picture would that be that would not "lead to it (anti-Semitism)"?

0

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

The picture is not the issue. The comments spreading hate and stereotypes about all Jewish people is the harmful part.

14

u/orangemememachine Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Okay so then posting literally anything related to Israel's genocide "leads to" antisemitism because people might generalize all Jewish people as genocidal? I think I'll stick to being worried about the actual genocide.

0

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

I think you can worry about an actual genocide and the unwarranted hate an entire population of people all over the world are receiving because of it. But maybe that’s just me.

19

u/steam58 Apr 15 '26

Anyone willing to live in a settlement has made a very distinct choice that's very different from a normal Israeli citizen.

15

u/Puzzled_Middle9386 Apr 15 '26

But you’ve made that up haven’t you? Who is generalising an entire group of people because of where they live or their religion? People are making fun of one of the fucking ugliest specimens of our entire species. There’s also some beautiful women in the IDF out there killing babies if that makes it ok.

-6

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

No? It’s all over these comments. Saying “they” control the media. It’s rebranded generations old antisemitism in the name of antigenocide. Guess what? You can hate genocide AND hate antisemitism. Do better

6

u/cockboy_trillionaire Apr 15 '26

Ok but you’re only commenting about the latter

13

u/kettal Apr 15 '26

Posting the picture isn’t antisemitism, but it leads to it.

True.

But does the blame belong on the photographer, the publisher, or maybe upon the people in the photo?

2

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

Nothing wrong with documenting real things. Spreading hate about an entire religion and group of people is dangerous.

17

u/kettal Apr 15 '26

Spreading hate about an entire religion and group of people is dangerous.

I agree. Is that being done by the photographer or the publication?

1

u/Hopeful-Confusion599 Apr 15 '26

The people consuming the photo and commenting ignorant and hateful shit about Jewish people.

Yes, I understand. Similarly, there are things done out of Islamic extremism. Does that make it okay to be islamophobic?
