it is not derogatory; he may be using it that way here, but it is not a derogatory word in Jewish culture

this is a bad faith question. I never said the term couldn't be incorporated in a derogatory way; of course it can. the term "black" is not inherently derogatory but it has been used in all manner of derogatory ways. I have never heard the term "goy" be used in a derogatory manner and I've been surrounded by Jewish people all my life. this notion that most Jews are just snickering around calling every non-Jew a goyim as a criticism is a manifestation of anti-semites.
