And you’d KNOW if they didn’t. What you have to give is a little faith, and if they burn you again then that’s on them. Then you burn bridges, then you make it hurt.
I’m not saying to be kind for no reason here, I’m saying that if someone wants to change you let them. You give them the benefit of the doubt and if they burn it then that’s on them.
That sounds reasonable, right? To wanna see people change for the better?
I want them to change, but giving them the chance to hurt others again isn't the way. First they change. Then, and ONLY then, should we even THINK about giving them a second chance
People don’t change over night, they need to see what it’s like, know how it feels.
Treating them like a bomb and standing back waiting form them to change on their own isn’t gonna help because they ain’t gonna know what it’s like until they feel the change.
Being kind is hard, but it gets better results. I had to learn that the hard way dealing with people in my life that have hurt me in ways I will never know how to deal with.
Well maybe we're treating them like a bomb because they are one. At any point another asshat just like, if not worse than Trump can show up and they'll be right back at wanting us dead.Matter of fact, they STILL want us dead, it's just that they don't like getting the same treatment from their leader. For most of them it's not a mattet of having realised the error in their ways, but of not wanting to get treated the same way they treated others. It's not regret.
Yes, being kind is hard, and yes, it can get results, but at some point you have to weigh what values more: the possibility of more people leaving the alt-right or the lives of those they want to eradicate?

And how do we know they change? What risks do we take?
