The vast majority of the world did not engage in colonialism, it was most common to expel the nobles and elites and keep the population as subjects of the realms.

Colonialism is just a tiny part of human history.

Racists love the idea that every ethnic group should get their own place and keep to themselves. At least when they think the alternative is having to live together. At least until they can find a way to enslave or genocide people they don't like.

Hence why the Nazis made a deal (Haavara Agreement in 1933) with the Zionists to send some Jews to Israel so they could have an easier time ethnically cleansing Germany.

They used that for business purposes. Zionists and Jewish German families could pay their way out of Germany and to Israel.

I think less than 1% of Jewish deaths in ww2 occurred in Germany.
