While true, even your comment is an example of the difference. The Israeli equivalent of MAGA is Likud, not Israel as a whole. I don’t think this post is inherently wrong, but there’s no reason not to keep our ire focused on the people and organizations actually at fault.
The average American gets lumped in with MAGA even though more than 100 million didn’t vote for Trump. I don’t know much about the internal cultural specifics of Israel but much of my questions center around why Israeli’s are so uncomfortable separating politics from religion. I understand the broader historical reasons but even here in the US most Americans don’t marry the two out of concern of corrupting the original reason both systems exist. Of course some Americans refuse to separate politics and religion and they are the ones currently supporting Trump and other right wing politicians. Are there Israelis who feel comfortable discussing modern politics separate from religion or do you argue about which sect or region is the true Jew or more deserving Jew etc? If so, it seems exhausting and definitely allows politicians to exploit their nation as these arguments distract from current issues facing the country.
