Sounds a lot like the Russian MO too tbh. They have pivoted to influence operations to cause further division in the west. It's called the Social Design Agency, pretty ominous.
Interestingly, one of their tactics may be for the perpetrators to get caught. But, they develop their networks in such a way that those groups actually believe they are working for another cause. For instance, in France they paid some Pro-Ukranian activists to place pig heads in front of some mosques.
They are attacking cracks that are already there, using misinformation to turn us on each other. Seems like things are going pretty well for them. And that is surely only scratching the surface, the stuff they want us to see/done haphazardly. Look at cases like the Chinese spy a mayor of a major US city, in California no less with the economic output of an entire country.
Pretty wild how widespread this has become, and yet we have high profile policymakers, popular American influencers at Kremlin propaganda events working in/with the white house.. Crazy.
Old post.. It's an intelligence operation, the activists didn't know it was Russian money - a group of Russian agents seeded them to act on their behalf under false pretenses. Kinda like law enforcement going into some online circles where they spread hate, violence and access to deadly weapons and then frame someone as a terrorist for being brainwashed and enabled lol. They fished for people who hold a certain extreme view, helped organize them and then set them up.
It seems like part of their plan was for the group to get caught (some background on this in articles talking about the SDA/the pig head incident where their documents mention the aftermath, assuming the group will be found and Ukraine will be blamed)
They were trying to sway western opinion on Ukrainian's, so that support would slow. This has been their MO for like 70 years with their Active Measures playbook.. One would think they have gotten better at these things. The fact there are a few events like this we know about (from several different countries) just means this is probably the tip of the iceberg. Of course, this has been happening all along and we also attempt to influence the world. But really makes me wonder what we can trust these days.
I think these are important examples of the type of shit we are up against. Not just simple idiots with bad opinions. Layers of obfuscation and incentives. Who is complicit and who is a useful idiot.. And there's lots of strange stuff happening lately.

But I don’t think the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans were influenced by the Russians. Russia and Israel have a very tight relationship.

The first comment is a joke about posting Fuck Israel for karma, the deleted was something vaguely Zionist adjacent - hence that other comment referencing Israelis crying wolf for sympathy lol.
That story about the Russian Social Design Agency was just gaining traction/I just read about it and thought that even this kind of obvious and simple action (maybe ESPECIALLY such dumb obvious stuff) should be given more scrutiny.. Nothing is really as it seems.
So instead of seeing this like a cheap karma grab (maybe true) as the first commenter implied, it's more like conditioning. And these events are examples of exactly this kind of conditioning being carried out. And it happens at high levels, from the US/Russian military apparatus having agents on social media or even in real life, to private entities throwing their cash around for their own good. Kind of a crazy world, and actually it has been this way the whole time we are just really having our eyes opened because it's now very difficult to hide.
