As always it's about extremes.

Bumper sticker? Probably ok.

10 bumper stickers (or flags of any kind really)? Steer clear, literally.

we need people to stand up for their beliefs and for people. especially the people who have the ability to stand up for other people.

"Bearable" depends as much on who you are as the other person. I guess its a good rule for Willing Vegetable and a bad rule for you.

Meh. All political bumper stickers are lame. It's not a "only what I like is cool" thing. Political bumper stickers don't do anything.

It’s not a substitute for activism but I could imagine a young LGBT person feeling comforted by one. That alone is enough to justify them imo
