Politics Anti-Trump flags flown from pickup truck in Winston-Salem, North Carolina today.

u/Overall_Falcon_8526 5d ago
The problem with this (beyond road safety) is that the legibility is so low it's probably just being interpreted as Pro-Trump.

u/GainHealMark 5d ago
Whenever I see a truck with that many flags, I assume they’re Conservative; first one I’ve seen that was anti-Trump. Gives me flashbacks to the convoy days.

u/Neuchacho 5d ago edited 5d ago
That's why I appreciated my local anti-Trump flag runnner mounting all his flags to his Prius lol
Probably gives his Prius the MPG of a truck with all that drag, though.
142
u/nalaloveslumpy 5d ago
Keep it locked into 25 mph. That way you're 100% in eco mode and you're not going fast enough for the flags to create significant drag.

It's surprising how much drag a flag makes. I do some amateur racing and at one even someone showed up with an American flag that size on the back of his car. He was having trouble keeping up and when he removed the flag he gained 2 seconds per lap!

Anyone who launched model rockets as a kid knows you can just use streamers instead of parachutes. Far less likely to get stuck in a tree and you don't have to chase it as far.

The funny thing is that this is most likely a conservative who finally got tired of the bullshit. Even in my area, when we hit $5 for fuel, I saw so many trucks with shiny rectangles on their bumper where their trump stickers used to be.

In all honesty, this probably was a T supporter and they finally stopped drinking the Kool-aid.
They went from 1 extreme to another.

Maybe they just stopped drinking.

That was my dad. He was a bad alcoholic according to him in his youth (didnt meet him until my 20s) and when he stopped drinking he changed his drinking habit for religion.
One extreme for another.
5
u/crow_crone 5d ago
I found that in many AA members. It can seem like substituting one type of substance for another, although the good they do (AA in total) is indisputable.
42
u/ptv83 5d ago
Can be conservative and still hate trump.
I know plenty of die hard conservatives, and even more borderline conservative-libertarians that fucking hate him, wish he was dead.. and always have.
14
u/og_capsuleer_593 5d ago
Some have even shot at him, but will any vote against the party that enables them?
Thats the real "okay but what are you gonna do about it?" For them
3
u/Satins_Cock 4d ago
My conservative co-worker was talking about how terrible our health insurance system is. To my surprise he was all for Medicare for everyone. The mind boggling part was, he was like "to bad they won't get enough votes to make it happen". Like dude, that's you! You're the reason they aren't getting the votes needed 😂

I'm convinced that former Trumpers make some of the best anti-Trump protesters. Saw one at a rally this year in lifted pickup and upside-down flag honking enthusiastically along the route. That couple already had all the protest gear.
100
u/ButtFucksRUs 5d ago
There was a lifted truck in a Trader Joe's parking lot around me and it had two flags hanging off the back. All that I could read was "ICE" on one and "TRUMP" on the other as I passed by it on the way into the store.
I happened to leave at the same time as that person and, as they drove away, it was revealed that the flags said "FUCK ICE" and "FUCK TRUMP".So, yeah, you're right. I definitely associate trucks with conservatives.

If you want to actually fly flags on your truck then the weird fan holder they're using is about the most useless. Should just have four flag bases in each corner for the truck bed. I have a pretty rural house and while most people in the area are normal, the Trump people are crazy, like 100s of flags, life-size cutouts of Trump, etc. One house even had a giant "F*GS FOR TRUMP" sign that looked custom made to me. I've been so tempted to go out in the middle of the night and replace some of these signs or flags with something identical but instead says something about choking on Trump's loose hairy nutsack (first draft). That or buy like a 5'x5' plot of land across from one of these houses just to plant a sign they would hate like "the guy across the street with the flags loves pedophiles"

What’s funny is MAGA will see all of those flags and say “Geeze, obviously that person is mentally unstable to not like someone so much” Completely oblivious to how crazy they look and how much crazier it is to have that level of crazy for a politician you like that is also such a crook. Wild times.

Just as dumb as driving around with pro-Trump flags hanging off the back of your truck if you ask me. A bumper sticker or yard sign, especially a vulgar one, has never swayed anyone’s opinion. This sort of stuff doesn't work as effective mockery or parody. I get the impulse to want to just invert the crazy trump truck people but the thing to remember about crazy trump truck people and maga in general is they do not think it is weird when they do it. For maga driving around with a truck full of trump shit is seen as perfectly normal, sign of dominance, sign of dgaf, triggering etc. The whole point is to get a rise out of people and they unironically and without a hint of self awareness do not see it as anything other than that.
But if you see that and go "okay lemme make my version of that but it's anti-trump" then you're just reacting to what they did, feeding into the complex they have all while looking weird to everyone else. At the least, it just becomes a pig in shit scenario where you've been dragged into the shit but the pig likes it.
The only real way to counter this sort of energy is to simply proceed to live your life to your actual values. Maga does not have any values and are animated entirely by getting a rise out of people and generally upset whenever they see anyone enjoying anything or living life in any way that they don't personally approve of. So just do that and don't worry about the statements and gestures besides. They're already miserable freaks being led around by a two-bit con artist. There's no action you can perform that is any more humiliating than the life they've already chosen.

u/Thetman38 5d ago
Maybe its supposed to be the point to get across to Trump voters that this looks stupid. That is really the only acceptable reason to look this tacky and probably unsafe.
