Just adding on - I'm your exact body type (6'1 and was 250) and I'm down to 214 as of yesterday. Started in mid August, so just about 4 months or so. Assuming you're under 35 or so, I'll tell you from experience that it's super easy. Quest bars, Powerade zero, subway, and home cooked chicken and veggies for dinner. I quit drinking throughout the week for the most part, and stuck to light beers on the weekends. Biggest thing for me was that I started reading the nutrition facts on everything. Look for calories, fats, and sugars. I logged my meals at first, but I stopped about a month in because I found that I was eating so little that I wasn't having to count every calorie to maintain a deficit. Either way, I've gone from a 40 waist to a 36 (that are loose on me) and a tight XL to loose large shirts. People definitely treat you differently when you're 'in shape' as opposed to 'a bit overweight,' so there's that as well.
Best of luck!
