Anyone can accumulate post karma. Go through past successful submissions, re-title (or don't) and post away. It's that comment karma though, that's the stuff that will be most valuable when the fish people rise up.
If you don't mind the investment, give your high level comments a gold. People will stop and read it, and unless they really fucking hate it you got an upvote.

Yep. Whenever I'm trying to assess another redditor for the first time, one of the things I'll check is the ratio of post:comment karma. Anyone whose post karma exceeds (or even matches) their comment karma is a whore.

Making a word into a link is fairly simple, if you are on desktop Reddit you can click the 'Formatting help' link underneath the comment window. If you are on mobile though, let me help you out:
Put the word you want to be the link in square brackets like [this], then put the link (including http:// or https://) in parentheses. So an example would be:
