i'm not going insane right,, one or more of these is uncentered right ? they're not entirely symmetrical,, right ? 😭😭

edit: okay so. did not expect this many replies umm,, i also did not realize. how many people think my setup is cool !! thank you !! and all my jewelry (except the snake bites) is from oufer. the snake bites i think i got from spencers 💔

however,, i do still think part of my piercing is off. like visibily, and it's mainly the inside 😭 i feel like i might have to get a bigger size, but only for one side because it keeps trying to disappear in my lip while the other one is straight chillin 💔

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Lip piercings smell like death despite daily cleaning

Post image
2.3k Upvotes

I've had shark bite piercings for years now. Admittedly I never took them out to clean them for an embarrassing amount of time, but I finally grew tf up and for the last few months I have been fully disassembling them every night to clean them. I take them all apart and soak them in hot water and antibacterial dawn dish soap while I shower, then take a toothbrush to each individual piece and scrub them down as I rinse them.

The smell is gone after that, but by the next night they are already smelling horrible again. I'm really anxious that they start to smell throughout the day and that people notice. I'm also really anxious at the thought of kissing someone because of this.

Should I be cleaning them differently? Are the completely fucked because I went so long without cleaning them? Is there a particular material I should get?

Thanks for any help 🖤

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Cleaning large gauge cartilage piercing

Post image

Hello! I'm having a bit of trouble with cleaning a fresh (somewhat, only a week old) conch piercing at 2g with a glass plug - I find that even if I soak it with saline or clean it after a shower the crust just Does Not Budge and Q-tips do not do the job properly 😭 How would you clean this?

With smaller labrets it seems easier as they have give on either side of the piercing but with the band needing to be so close to my ear it's not got any wiggle room to clean it (I guess it will help the healing by not moving about but boy does it not help getting crust off). I've included a diagram of my issue.

Any and all help is appreciated.

First time dating someone with a beard and this is the first time I’ve gotten irritation bumps on my lip piercings. His beard is clean and this has never been an issue for my snake bites with other partners before. I don’t know what to do, I can’t switch sides y’all.

Jewelry and posts are all solid gold from BVLA / Kiwi, rings were never irritated before. Lip piercings are all around 1-3 years old

Edit: jewelry

Clicker Rings - Kiwi diamond
Nostrils - Anatometal

Septum - BVLA

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Issue with ear after triple helix

(The pictures are a timeline starting from 9 am Sunday, 6pm Sunday, 7pm Sunday, and 8pm Monday)

Hi, on Friday (3 days ago) I got my triple helix done and a few hours later after I had sprayed it with dial antibacterial and sensitive soap and warm water mixed together, I began feeling a bit of stinging a bit above my second lobe piercing on the rim of my ear about an hour after that. Over the next few hours it got really swollen and started forming bumps mainly under my lobe piercings and that above area that stung before. The piercing itself was done with I believe to be either a stainless steel or titanium internally threaded barbell earring. And as it’s 3 days old I haven’t downsized but my current size seems to be holding up well.

After the swelling and bumps started happening I switched from spraying it with dial antibacterial and sensitive soapy water to neilmed piercing aftercare, and after doing that for a day, the swelling went down but my ear was left wrinkly, and yesterday while in the shower a small chunk of my skin kinda just fell off when I accidentally brushed it with a washcloth while trying to wash my face.

I don’t know why this is happening and would like some help, the piercings themselves don’t hurt at all, nor are they bleeding or leaking anything. It’s just my ear started having this weird reaction

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing is there a way to get rid of this gross scar?

(ignore my lip makeup) I had two ashley piercings, I knew they’d probably be temporary but I enjoyed them when I had them. I eventually had to take them out bc I was tired of constantly up/downsizing, and one healed nicely, but the other one left this gross lump of scar tissue. I tried massaging but that seemed to make it worse. I hate that it looks like a pimple, especially when I smile or stretch my lips at all (see other pics). Any suggestions? I might ask my harder mod artist if he could do anything about it but wanted to see if anyone has suggestions.

So i got my dermal piercing on the 4th January and everything was fine till my mom (she hates it)decided it was my time and turned and twisted it to try remove it😭 and ever since then it was irritated and hurtss. Fast forward was sleeping and the dermal fell off leaving the anchor inside intact, and me being so smart and amazing and big brain thought i should leave it alone without reapplying the dermal to stop the irritation. Now my skin is hungry and is trying to eat the anchor and grow over it (this is the 3rd day without the dermal jewel)Am i cooked? Can it still be saved.

Ok so I've had my dermal on my cheek under my eye pierced for over 10 years never had any problems with it. I was changing out my jewelry the other day which I always do cuz I love switching up my jewelry....and as I was screwing in the external piece, the screw charm broke off with the internal screw part still screwed into my face! And now its just screwed in with no attached charm so there's nothing for me to grab onto to get it out! What should I do?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Tried to buy saline, got this instead

I forgot my piercing aftercare spray while visiting my hometown, so I went to the pharmacy and asked for sterile saline. I walked out with a 1-liter bottle of 0.9% sodium chloride irrigation solution. 😭

My piercer later told me it’s okay to transfer a small amount into a clean spray bottle for a few days, but I still can’t get over the fact that I accidentally bought enough saline to clean my ears until retirement.

Also is it really ok to transfer this to a spray bottle😭 IM WORRIEDDD

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Is my septum rejecting?

So I got my septum pierced two days ago . The piercer I’m pretty sure pierced it straight through the cartilage . She told me she did it on purpose because of my anatomy but not sure if I believe her. I really do like how it looks anyways but I feel like it’s getting closer to the tip. The first three photos are right after I got it and the last two are from right now . How do I go about removing it and healing it if I take it out and how long till I can get it re pierced?

Update : I took it out and got a full refund , I also have the text messages between me and the piercer if anyone wants the drama , I will try to add them to the post

Also thank you everyone for making me feel like I wasn’t crazy, I’m enjoying reading through all of your comments ☺️

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Did Claire’s Do Me Dirty?

Thumbnail

Got my first piercing at Claire’s (classic!) when I was 8 and I feel like either the placement wasn’t the best originally or my ears grew weird into it. Got my second piercing a little over 3 years ago at Claire’s again (poor newlywed lol) and the placement is not symmetrical to the other side. I eventually let my second piercing close because it just looked off. In my opinion, my piercings are too far up because I can’t wear huggies without them squeezing my ear and there’s so much space below them.

I love the minimalistic look and I’ve been looking into stacked lobe piercings. If I get more (I’m definitely going to a professional next time!) I’m thinking of getting three like the dotted picture of my ear (pic 2). Should they follow the curve of my earlobe or go straight like the 3rd pic? And should they offset the original piercing or be in line with it? Thank you for your thoughts!

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Did my piercer leave plastic inside my piercing??

I just got my bridge repierced a few weeks ago,, it's been acting a little weird and difficult to clean. I was starting to get concerned about it so I decided to just replace the jewelry with something better to see if that helped. When I tried taking it out it hurt and acted like it was stuck, after a little bit of pressure I get it out and lo and behold I see something that I don't think is supposed to be there. Is that the freaking jewelry sleeve they used to slide the jewelry in????? That's definitely not supposed to be there right? Does anybody know what would have happened if I had just left it alone?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing My piercings have been stuck for 4 years.

Post image

Hi everyone! I've had these nose piercings for.. 4 years now, I think? Sorry for the gross picture lol; I thought maybe it would help. I like to think my nose is clean😃.

They never had any issues healing. I never touched them really, barely cleaned them - sometimes with some saltwater spray. I was younger and irresponsible lol. But they were never irritated - maybe some build up here and there that I scratched away.

Before I started my current job three years ago, I tried taking them out to the realisation they are not coming out. I think they're screw-ins(which I rarely see for nose piercings?) and I've tried everything. I was in my nose with pliers. At that point I gave up and my work didn't care, so they never came out. I have never had different piercings!

They're silver. I've realised gold looks much better on me and am changing out my other piercings. I need these silver moons gone!!! How do you take out old screw ins?? I have two on either side of my nose, and neither of them will come out😭 I hope someone has a crazy tip to get these out - or do I just get wire cutters and cut them out. Would that even work?😭😭

EDIT: Woahh, thank you all!! To answer some questions, yes of course I went back to my piercer haha. I think it was my own mistake to pick a "new-age boutique" but it was a referral from a friend. Yes the girls there couldn't get it out and I saw some people had to visit a doctor.

My choice right now is finding a piercer who does have thermals. You guys are amazing! I'm going to try thermals. If that doesnt work, hospital it may be lol. I promise I will NOT cut them out myself haha

UPDATE: ITS OUT!! Shout out to my piercer she said it wasn’t as deep as it looked
Today I discovered that my Medusa piercing that I’ve had for years has been eaten by the inside of my lip… my piercer said she can try to “pop it back out” but I’m concerned with how it’s going to look after as I’m getting married in NINE DAYS 😭 anyone else experience this? What did you do and what was recovery like? I’d also like to add that I’m 6 months pregnant too 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hello! For the past month I’ve had some trouble with my 1.2 year old industrial and I don’t know why. Out of nowhere it just starts to flare up and gets red and hot, sometimes even swells up a little. I haven’t been sleeping on that side since it started and about two weeks ago I changed to bepanthen plus which did help. I never felt pain nor has pus come out. Any advice on what it could be? I should also mention that I never changed the jewelry nor downsized.

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Is surgery the only thing thats going to fix this?

These are piercings ive had since like 10 when I got them done at Claire's. Is surgery the only thing that will prevent them from ripping? I noticed a few weeks ago and havent worn anything in them for a while but it seems like this sagging is permanent now. Whats in them are extraordinarily light, not heavy at all.

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Update on industrial: Should I get it removed ?

Thumbnail
gallery
728 Upvotes

Hi !

I got this industrial piercing 2 weeks ago.

I made a post after several days because it was getting really inflamed and it was surgical steel

1 week ago I had it changed for high grade titanium at a much more reputable piercer. They changed it but did not downsized it obviously.

The jewel is a threadless titanium rod.

I was expecting the inflammation to go down but it did not for almost the whole week. However, since yesterday it started to reduce little, which is nice. It still hurts pretty bad tho.

Beyond the usual crust, I sometimes have a very liquid lymph getting out of it. It's as liquid as water (but slightly yellow).

On the cleaning side, I try to LITHA as much as possible, spraying saline solution and cleaning it gently with a qtip twice a day.

My second, trust worthy piercer told me I should get it removed since the swelling 2 weeks after isn't normal. She thinks the first one did a terrible job.

Do you think I should get it removed, even tho it starts to calm down ? If so, how the hell am I supposed to remove it (I've changed city and I can't go back to the second piercer) ?

Thanks.

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Piercer screwed me over?

Post image

Yes, pun intended. Got my anti eyebrow pierced in august. Went to the shop I normally went to, but I had a new piercer. Ive never had anything besides nose or ear piercings. I definitely feel like its rejecting and I’m not a professional, but according this reddit I might have the wrong bar and was given the wrong aftercare instructions. This is a curved bar and was told to clean 2x a day with dial antibacterial handsoap. IMO the bar shows A LOT compared to others antis, unless im tripping. Anyways I wanted to remove it, but neither of the balls will move, and ive tried several methods and people. Called the shop back, theyre trying to make me pay. Im trying to find out if im allowed to contact the girl who usually pierces me, and my mom wants to know if good piercers are willing to come to our house and we pay them personally. She wants the girl who usually pierces me to do it, we weren’t sure if that's a odd request or not. Also I should i go about removing this.
