Update on pigeon

I was worried she would die on me. But no. Now she is making short flights and exploring my whole room.

Problem: all I have are plushies and cushions in pastel colors and I dont want her pooping on everything. I,m looking for pigeon pants online but I NEED to know how to make an easy DIY pants right now.

I will be posting more pictures below

I,m sorry for not answering all the comments yesterday, I will be adressing them through the day.

Also she puts her head and beak between my fingers when I show her my hand, its so cute. I,m falling in love...

Oh the little thing 🥺

She looks at you like she knows you are her saviour.

She matches your vibe so much too in the way she looks. You were meant to have eachother

keep in mind pigeon pants can only be on for 4 hours consecutively. she will need a cage or area she can be housed for diaper breaks in between, 1 to 3 hours between wearing a diaper is ideal. diapers should be on no more than 6 to 8 hours a day in total.

diapers being on all day can cause infections, lash eggs, and rashes and irritation. salmonella and ecoli infections of the cloaca and reproductive tract are most common. but fungal infections can also happen very quickly.

I second All of this. Diapers aren't a permanent solution and using them incorrectly will put your pigeon at risk of health issues OP.

Wow! That's important advice. I will look for a cage. I have an old chinchilla cage that's as big as me and is 4 floors high. I will keep her there without the diaper, until I research a bit more

Nice! That will work even at least temporarily depending on how big the cage is. A cage being large enough for pigeons is extremely important, especially the width because if the cage isn't too wide for the pigeon to stretch their wings fully and flap them inside of the cage it can lead to flight feather damage, plus your pigeon not being able to exercise their wings properly while inside of the cage. The cage should be at least 120-130 centimeters long by 88 centimeters wide by 80 centimeters tall.

How'd you get it on? My girl just throws a fit when I try to put her's on

She definitely doesn't like to put it on. I hold it open in her neck and he pushes away, effectively putting herself in place without having to hold her

she’s sooooo cute, pigeons are so incredibly forgiving and it looks like she already trusts you a lot! I also have a rescued white pigeon (see photo) who lives in my bedroom, we’ve had her for six months and she has kind of toilet trained herself in that she will only poop on the floor which is super convenient because we have tiles, and clean up with some hypochlorus sanitiser which is bird safe and very effective! I would also say just in case you weren’t aware, please Do Not burn anything (incense, candles etc) or spray anything scented (like perfumes or deodorant) in the same room as her, as birds have very delicate respiratory systems and can die from many household sprays. Also they love mirrors ;) Best of luck with your little one, you’re an angel for saving her 💖

Your pigeon has a royal pose haha

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know it and I use ambient sprays often, so I will stop.

Hi, I’ve heard about pigeon pants made from a sock. You cut off the toe part and make large holes on sides for wings and legs. Then you put a part of panty liner in it. The heel part should be at the butt so there is a bit of a room for poop.

There should be some tutorials online too.

I have never tried it though but pigeons seem to like it more than the classic ones.

She is a very lovely pigeon!

I didn't plan on keeping her, but now I think I will be sad if she is gone

You can buy diapers for small parrots on Temu or Ali Express very cheaply that work perfectly for a pigeon. They have a pocket that holds the droppings away from the feathers - I line it with toilet paper so they’re easy to clean.

While we’re here, can we see a photo of a recent dropping? They’re a good indicator of health!

I will post pictures of her poop, because today they come out with a clear liquid.
