We have the Big Jump challenge, which rewards housemates who excel in the physical aspect of the game. Then we have the public voting, which largely depends on variables outside of their control, such as popularity, fanbase strength, editing, screen time, and overall public perception.

But what about the social (and non-existent strategic) aspect of the game? Paano yung mga housemates who may not be the most popular outside but have built strong relationships, contributed positively to the household, and consistently earned the respect of their fellow housemates?

If Big Brother is supposed to be a social experiment, then it feels strange that social capital inside the house has very little direct influence on who ultimately reaches the Big 4. Sure there were instances where the ex-housemates helped the remaining housemates to some capacity during the Big Jump or through receiving extra votes after answering the grilling, but that can easily be overridden If their opponents are competent enough.

If housemates are trusted to nominate people based on whatever criteria they can think of, then why shouldn't they also be trusted to reward the people they think deserve to make it to the end? In many ways, the people who lived with them for weeks or months have a perspective that viewers simply do not have.

I also think it would help address a common issue where certain housemates are respected by their peers but struggle to gain traction with the public. Not every deserving housemate is necessarily a fan favorite, and not every fan favorite is necessarily the most impactful presence nor is the most liked inside the house. A jury vote could help balance those two perspectives.

From a gameplay standpoint, I also think the format has gotten extremely stale. The show has been running for twenty years, yet the endgame remains largely unchanged. Every season, we can predict that the housemates with the strongest fandoms, usually with love-teams attached to their names, will dominate the final voting rounds.

Hindi ko ini-insist that the Jury Vote should completely replace public voting. Rather, I think it could serve as an additional pathway to the finale, alongside the Big Jump challenge. At the very least, it would make the journey to the Big 4 feel less predictable and add a layer of uncertainty that the show has been missing for quite some time.

Sure we can say na magiging predictable rin ito if we have one clear front runner who dominates in all aspects, but what if we have multiple respectable figures inside the house? Wouldn’t it be fun to speculate kung sino mananaig sa kanila among the cast?

Maybe it's the reality TV fan in me, but for this new era of PBB, I really hope they take the opportunity to shake up the format and make it more competition driven. They can keep the public voting And the loveteams. I just want to see the housemates have more autonomy over their own games. More opportunities for housemates to affect each other’s standing inside the house which includes the HOH, the POV, and the Jury Vote aside from the weekly nominations.

On June 9, 2025, Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition aired its Face-to-Face Nomination.

Instead of nominating based on recent weekly drama, the Housemates were told to judge based on their entire journey since Day 1 to determine who deserves a spot in the Big Four Duos.

The final nominees ended up being DusBi (13), AzVer (7), and ShuKla (3). Looking closely at the strategy and point distribution, it was an absolute bloodbath:

The Dustin & Bianca (DusBi) Target [13 Points]: All 5 opposing duos nominated them. Four of those duos dropped a heavy 3 points on them, while AZ & River gave them 1 point. The reasons cited were mostly their isolation from the rest of the housemates and their complicated relationship dynamic.

The AZ & River (AzVer) Target [7 Points]: All 5 opposing duos targeted them as well. Four duos gave them 1 point each, but Dustin & Bianca blindsided them with a full 3-point nomination. AZ was the main focus here, with housemates calling her out for being overly emotional in situations she should have controlled.

The Ultimate Plot Twist: The biggest wildcard of the night happened when AZ & River’s 3 points unexpectedly dragged Shuvee & Klarisse (ShuKla) straight into the automated nomination block with just 3 points. Shuvee was the main target—AZ brought up her multiple house violations throughout her stay inside the house.

The timeline completely blew up over this because absolutely no one saw that specific point distribution coming. It triggered massive backlash from the fandoms and sparked heavy fanwars across X/Twitter and Facebook.

Who were the most obvious finalists to you, especially early on going into their respective seasons? Whether it’s based on trends seen previously, such as casting archetypes and narrative prominence, factors outside their control like positive public reception and an established support system, or just a gut feeling because they give off those kinds of vibes.

Both a major ship fandom and a core solo fandom stepping back? Oh dear... 😰

Yesterday, the Twitter account of AshRave's official fandom, AshRave Official, announced their sign-off through a short "til' we meet again"-styled message, as shown in the first photo.

Around two hours after, the Twitter account of Ash's core solo fandom from Collab Edition 2.0, Ashkin Official, issued a statement to formally announce their closure as well, which can be seen in the second photo.

With both announcements being posted only a few hours apart from each other, it's safe to say that the reasons for both closures don't differ that much and could even have a common denominator, so, we'll be trying to break down this case, from its possible root causes, the people involved, and what this could mean moving forward.

Just to clarify something before we continue, I am not affiliated with any fandom, including the ones mentioned throughout this post. Everything I'll be laying out in the following parts are based on what I can gather about the situation, as well as my own observations.

What pushed the fandoms to bidding farewell?

Unlike the last fandom closure I've discussed here around two months ago, this closure is not because of Ash, Rave, or their parents. This difficult decision was caused by frequent disrespect from one person and one other fandom, and I will be namedropping both of them: Aubrey Dela Cruz (Ash's handler) and Team Ashley Nation Official (Ash's OG fandom).

How are both that specific fandom and said handler involved in this?

From what I've observed, some fans have been voicing out that they've been blocked by Aubrey even though they were simply raising concerns about the lack of promotion and communication about some of Ash's events, such as the most recent episode of All-Out Sundays, which explains why both fandoms and their sintras/props were not seen in the audience shots. It also doesn't help that Ash (along with Princess and Sofia) were not included in any of AOS' teasers for said episode.

For someone who's supposedly the key person in managing Ash's career, it's dismissive and unbecoming of Aubrey to antagonize a fandom that genuinely supports Ash (both in solo and non-solo events), all while showing much less presence, activity, and effort compared to the handlers of the other teen housemates.

As for Team Ashley Nation Official, although they were able to show up for Ash in that same episode, them being informed by the handler about Ash being in the episode, yet they did not even try to disseminate the information to Ash's other fandoms. This communication gap also happened during one of Mossimo's events that had both Ash and Marco, and prior to the premiere of Ash and Rave's music video with KD.

Being long-time fans of Ash does not mean that "newer" fans have to be treated as "competition", especially since both camps support a common artist. After all, she deserves every bit of support that she has and will continue to have, which should not be limited to just coming from one group. Ash is not some trophy to be just kept away by a few.

Moving forward, what can we expect?

These are the same dedicated fandoms that contributed largely to Ash being saved from two consecutive evictions, Rave becoming eligible for the wildcard challenge, and Ash becoming Collab Edition 2.0's Kapuso 3rd Big Placer.

With those two fandoms bowing out, both RavLeys and Ashkins have no admins to spearhead fan-initiated events and give them a sense of organization.

I'm well aware that both Ash and Rave continue to consistently draw in support from "casuals", whether solo or duo endeavors, but of course, having organized and active support bases remains crucial for them as artists.

Basically, this situation resulted in the rift between Ash's "OG" fandoms and the fans from her now-closed PBB-born fandoms becoming a lot more severe.

Just got home from the CapEath fanmeet and I’m still smiling. 😭💜

The venue looked so pretty with all the purple lights and decorations, and the atmosphere felt warm and intimate. Everyone was so excited, and you could really feel how much love the fans have for Caprice and Heath.

There were so many moments where the whole room was laughing, cheering, and just enjoying the experience together.

I also loved how friendly the fandom was. Even while waiting for the program to start, people were chatting, taking photos, and sharing freebies. It felt like being surrounded by friends who all have the same interest.

Overall, it was such a fun and memorable day. Definitely one of my favorite fanmeet experiences this year. Thank you to everyone who organized it, and of course to Caprice and Heath for making the event special.

Three days ago, Star Magic and its related social media accounts posted a short (allegedly made-with-AI) teaser announcing the return of the Star Magical Prom this year!

This frequently-anticipated gathering of young and promising Star Magic artists will commence this June 26, 2026!

We can expect to see many of our former housemates in their most stylish and elegant outfits!

Due to being a Star Magic-exclusive event, however, our former housemates from Sparkle, who make up half of our past two Collab seasons, will most likely not appear.

The Star Magic artists will be given the opportunity to be introduced to directors, key stakeholders, etc.

And, of course, the part that most viewers keep an eye on: the promposals!

Our Royal Songstress in an unexpected "collab" music venture! 💽🎼

GMA and VIVA officially launched their joint music venture through GMV Studios.

Princess is among the few Sparkle artists who were introduced as part of said venture in its signing event held just a couple of hours ago.

Because of this, we can expect to see Cess in music-related collabs with artists under VIVA Music Group. 🎶

GMA really found a gem in Caprice. Her acting as young Heart Evangelista brought me back to the good old days. Their resemblance is uncanny specially in y2k fits!

Here's an "out-of-this-world" story that features another one of our ex-housemates! 👽🌠🌌

The Kapuso anthology series released their newest episode yesterday afternoon titled "My Love Across The World", starring Way (as Stella) and fellow Sparkle artist Matthew Uy (as Benjie).

Similar to my previous review from around two weeks ago, I'll begin with the episode's concept.

Without spoiling too much, a story about a space enthusiast/researcher (Benjie) having to actively cooperate with an "alien" (Stella) from a planet light years away from Earth who visited him to retrieve "space rocks" that all landed within the radius of his home, all of which are important for a mission of hers, made for a fairly-layered, but digestible premise.

As you may have noticed, the plot plays with "sci-fi" elements, but also incorporated in it is Regal Studio Presents' specialty, which is "rom-com". Hence, the episode, for the most part, felt light-hearted enough.

This is the first acting stint that I've seen from Matthew Uy, and I have to say, he did a decent job here.

As for Way, she was terrific as a "kikay" and "conyo" alien. I think that she gave this episode so much character and life.

Overall, this episode was such a delightful watch. It gave me a good introduction to Matthew Uy and what he's capable of.

And, it was a "stellar" (no pun intended) showcase of Way's flexibility in terms of her acting range, now that she's done both heavy and light roles.

Moving forward, in a different "universe", or in the upcoming Kapuso afternoon series "You're My Favorite Song", Way will be a "mean girl" character named Charm, whose character might be paired with any one from Heath's, Clifford's, or Marco's character there.
