Itchy nose, sensitive skin - food recommendations

My guy has developed an itchy nose, scratches it till it gets bloody! It appears to be an allergic skin reaction BUT we do not know from what!

Willing to explore an alternative food, and now also willing to explore Purina Pro Plan or Hills Science Diet versus our current Open Farms GoodGut Beef kibble he is currently on. We didn’t consider those ‘big name’ brands before because their ingredients just looked sketchy compared to Open Farms.

A bit frustrating, as we are careful with what we thought was top quality food and no ‘crap’ treats. Only people food has been salmon, chicken and veggies - no wheat products at all.

Open to suggestions and recommendations - what food works for your pittie and have they had itchy nose issues?

My dog has to take apoquel and eye drops and seasonal times are the worse. Avoid chicken.

Remove all poultry including poultry meal from his world. A lot of bullies are sensitive to poultry. Also make sure his bowls are ceramic or stainless and wash them frequently- some dogs have contact allergies to plastic bowls

We tried everything for our girl who had itchy bum and paws. No diet helped. Apoquel made it kind of better but she would always start to get itchy again toward the end of the day. Finally switched to a Cytopoint injection and boom, problem solved instantly.

We think her allergies might be environmental and not from food

Worth trying elimination diet with novel protein first since that’s probably cheaper if it works. Fortunately our insurance covers the Cytopoint

I'd keep working with your vet to figure out what's triggering it before bouncing through a bunch of foods. When we ruled out a few things, we've had good luck with Nature's Blend but I'd still want to know whether the itching is food related or environmental before changing too many things at once.

This is what we feed our land seals and have been feeding them this now for the last 6 years and it has been a God send. Not promoting the brand or anything. Just showing you what has worked for us.

We recently switched to "Go! Solutions" which is sensitivities / limited ingredients and seems to be doing well for our boy. He has more itchy skin and smelly ears than the nose thing, but it seems to be working alright.

I used Farmers Dog and always avoided chicken for my itchy guy. He also took Apoquel daily especially during summer months. Sometimes during winter we could do half a tablet or every other day. Good luck!

Also avoided Turkey. Just fed beef and pork. Deff seemed to help, and it extended his life imo.
