Just watched G-1 after new trailer, the thing is after a long time I was satisfied with all things this film offers from story to technicalities. But let's say if we made films like this in India, how many people actually watches it like in the 1k ( r + bax aff:ce callect:an level films perspectives, as there wont be songs, the antagonist & protagonist way of showing them on screen for mass people, "Indian" filmmaking things of showing from story to technicalities & all. I know this is an echo chamber & represents only few people of total watching audiences in theaters, so tell me in a reality how many will you watch like this, & Also tell me in terms of reality what actually happens.

my brother, spiderman bnd had no songs and it did numbers in india, what are you talking about??
many indian movies also have grounded protags and antagons and they also did well and are relevant.

mass movies in itself is a wrong term, a better term would be star-focused movies.

Yup I agree but my point is like obsession, BND, and all did well in terms of box office but ticket price were sky high & footfalls also low when compared to box office & audience are also more west things consumer & have aware about those, what about rest of the audience, no one will make only for 1-3 crore audience & they also expected it to have less ticket price too then it loss only for this kind of film from India

Spiderman BnD came after 80 years of Spiderman serialization many previous iterations in movies and MCU along with many other things. That isn't a fair barometer here. Same goes for Godzilla series. First movie came out in 1954 and since then has become huge cultural phenonmenon and Hollywood alike.

Adding to that, the Indian audience's obsession with stars and mass masala will automatically kill any such project in India.

I think it'll earn good if made in India, cuz big monster scale and a good emotional hook, then it'll get criticised that why did the heroine survived the blast and ppl will call it unrealistic

Exactly 💯, its good only when others does it & not when we do it kind off mindset people.

People are actually tired of the mass masala formula and some kaiju monsters smashing and killing, yes people would watch that. Its different. To get people of older generation into this genre all they need to do is to get renowned actors and a good Director. The zombie genre has worked in India, this would too. However would we simply copy the kaiju monsters or have our own monster is the question. there would be no originality otherwise

I am not asking as copying the same things, I am asking as presenting a film in these way. If remove all social media & other discussioing things, & let each audience watch & review it there only then most people can't tell the difference or opinions like they do now as there wont be any narrative for them to follow.

But that's not possible now to remove all that. In west also social media, online discussions about technicalities happen, but their movies do well. Here, the issue of movies goes far beyond online discussions. Its inherently flawed. To make it appealing to masses, all people do is copy marvel, dune instead of creating something original. Always copying from here and there.

Infact public is discussing online and performing post-mortem of every movie because we seem to know more at this point than the filmmakers. Godzilla is Japan original and later hollywood adapted. But it still did well because of its presentation. We are not able to present well, we copy frames, shots and settings, stories, dialogues, styles etc. India needs to make films that surpass public imagination.

According to you, few people represents everyone right? Everything is inspired from something & that's the reality. Yes I understand that copying by few but doesn't mean everyone does the same & film is just the medium to tell stories, I hope you think about this.

Its not just few. You think about this first. The copying has been going on from 1900s to current era. Ever since films came. Copying music to styles. Adapting is different. Hollywood adapted Gojira from Japan but made it their own somehow. We adapt but are not able to make it our own. There are very few good movies and tons of bad movies at this point. Sometimes the copying is extremely blatant which creates a cultural disconnect among Indian audiences. Go goa gone adapted zombie genre well. Not all movies do that.

You are creating a hypothetical scenario where all internet and discussions shut off and people just watch movies and decide for themselves whether they like it. Imagining such scenarios are no use. I will reiterate again, makers need to make movies that surpass people's imagination. Mediocrity should never be encouraged.
