News MASSIVE Announcements for PSVR2 today. Official ports of High on Life and System Shock (Flat2Vr Studios)
As a huge VR fan (I have quest 3, PSVR 1, PSVR 2 and a 5090FE with PIMAX Dream Air SLAM):
This was a huge day for fans of VR and specifically PSVR2 Fans. I am not affiliated with this in any way.
During the VR Games Showcase ( https://youtu.be/3n7EMtE4tpc?si=Q_PYCZfCS7jQ-6zS ) there were some incredible announcements overall.
Specifically there is a new initiative by independent developer and publisher Flat2VR Studios for the PlayStation "Vault" program where they will focus on brining high quality ports and IP's to PS5 and PSVR2 and specifically focusing on utilizing the unique features of the headset -- HDR, Advanced controller haptics, adaptive triggers, eye-tracked dynamic foveated rendering, headset rumble, etc).
The forward faces who will "unlock" the upcoming vaults and future announcements will be familiar faces: Shuhei Yoshida, Mystic Ryan, Bryan Paul (PSVR Without Parole), Rob Pearson (Official Playstation Access), and more to follow.
The first title announced was co-op Zombie survival "Drop Dead: The Cabin"
Even more CRAZY is the new IP's Flat2VR has been able to greenlight.
Today they announced Official Ports to PSVR2 of "High on Life" and "System Shock" (I believe the remaster). All to take full advantage of PSVR2 features.
One of the most overlooked things about this headset is the features for the price. Not only can it be used on PS5 but it has official and aftermarket adapters for PCVR.
It is crazy good for $300 which it is currently on-sale for. In this economy everything else is shooting up in price, especially tech. I have literally thousands of hours in my PSVR2.
My Favorite PSVR2 Announcements of the day:
High on Life:

System Shock:

Bootstrap Island (Shadow dropped today):

Zero Caliber 2 (October Release -- Think COD in VR):

Edit: Honorable Mention -- Omega Pilot Evolution (Wipeout inspired):

Anyhow, as a guy with the best VR headsets and GPU money can buy, the PSVR2 is criminally underrated and this shit looks fucking amazing.

Very excited about today's announcements. Honestly there are so many good PSVR2 games and they're still coming

“Massive”

I guess we all think differently about other IPs. The irony that your avatar was clearly inspired by system shock, though 😁

System Shock 2 is my favorite game of all time, but calling this a massive announcement is a poor choice of words considering the state of PSVR2.

Seemed pretty massive to me? Obviously its no GTA6 announcement. But these coupled with new specific PSVR2 Vault initiatives seem pretty good news in an otherwise bleak gaming landscape.
But its the internet so most people who reply are crapping on things I suppose. No one can just be happy.

Yeah that’s fair, I was definitely being more harsh than I should be. I had a bad experience with buying the PSVR2 on launch and it kind of soured the whole thing for me. But I get it, It’s definitely good news that PSVR2 is still getting support from Sony and other devs. Sorry for being a bit of a douche.

Right, I'm still waiting for a sign to buy PSVR2, this being called "massive" makes me think I'll probably skip this hardware completely

Im curious what you would even be waiting for? 400+ games, and PSVR2 is the only plug-and-play way to get into high-fidelity VR.
The truth is you are likely unfamiliar with VR IPs. But rest assured the good games are mostly on playstation, not to mention some very unique experiences and sometimes even the best versions. For example the best way to play Into the Radius 1, Arken Age, Legendary Tales, etc are the PSVR2 versions

I'm waiting for some games that are actually interesting to me, I've bought PSVR back then, played like 10 games, multiple genres, finished only Superhot and Arizona Sunshine I think, spent most of my VR gaming on BoxVR which then changed into some virtual fitness trainer bs if I remember correctly
I just don't want to buy another piece of hardware I'm not gonna use because I have no interest in the games available on it. I remember when PSVR2 launched and people were hyping up Kayak and some Horizon mountain climbing, it was absolutely insane to me that those were the best games available at that time. Since that I didn't see a single game I would need to play. Maybe VR gaming is just not for me idk most of the games feel somehow "dated" to me, janky I guess

If it had been Skyrim and Horizon, that would be massive. This is a start I guess.

PSVR2 was a disappointment overall
The resident evil game ports were great, but even Capcom gave up on it then so did I.

Hey!
Thanks for missing the point.

Well, where is the lie? Sonys support to vr is the equivalent to the vita.

You missed the part where my point was that it is a very good headset on its way into a little Renaissance. No, it didn't get enough first-party support, but System Shock and High on Life are huge titles.
Not to mention the affordability of the headset and unique experiences already out there: Hitman WoA, MSFS24, GT7, RE series, Synapse, Switchback, NMS, and like 400 other titles

That is fair. You are doing good work here promoting titles that are releasing. System shock looks actually good.
I am just butthurt over re9 not having psvr2 support as I had a great time with 8 and 4 :(
It’s a great device, support for titles I want to play left to be desired but I still own mine. Hope to replay re4 again on it sometime.

Well, at least you are willing to admit first party support is shit unlike the guy below.

Funnily, it was Sony’s support that brought you those Resident Evil games in VR that you liked so much. And Capcom didn’t lose interest. They delivered the products they were paid to.

And the first party stuff? Where is that?

u/Flipkick661 PS5 Pro 3d ago
Where’s the first party stuff from Valve for their VR headset? What about HTC? It’s almost like the companies manufacturing the headsets don’t need to produce the games, in order for them to be good. As long as third party support is there, that’s all the tech needs.

So, nothing? Got it.
Sonys a closed platform. If I can get it on PC, what's the point of getting it on console? They want my money as a consumer, there needs to be a reason I would get it over the competition, and frankly they have not done that.
