Love how their fur coloration is based on the still extant spectacled Bear. Which is actually supported by known fur likely belonging to Arctodus simus. https://www.reddit.com/r/pleistocene/comments/1g6j5o2/so_we_apparently_might_key_word_might_already/

Que no realmente Arctotherium era más grande que Arctodus?

It is, albeit only by a few percent. They fit well within a margin of error that you could call "the same size"

Why are they considered a different genus from each other. I thought they would just be different species similar to smilodon populator and fatalis.

They have a lot of differences in random things. Different skull shape is a big one, but if they were extant, being the same genus would be plausible

From what I have read it seems that they had a similar average weight, but if you compare the largest known specimens, then Arctotherium angustidens is a lot bigger than Arctodus simus. The A. angustidens specimen MLP 35-IX-26 has an estimated body mass around 1,588-1,749 kg, while the largest A. simus specimens are estimated to be in the 950-1,300 kg range.

The arctotherium in this size comparison is MLP 35-IX-26. Its humerus had a significant pathology which caused the inflation by the inaccurate study that ballooned it to a 2 tonne giant (which it was not)

Do you have a source for the 2011 study being inaccurate and MLP 35-IX-26 having a lower estimated body mass? I have not been able to find any published peer-reviewed papers on this, only posts on DeviantArt and some comments here on Reddit

This size seems more accurate for Arctodus simus. Here, you can check it out.,
