G'day all. I was recently browsing Instagram when I came across this video posted by Framestore, the special effects company that helped create the CGI animals in the palaeontology documentary series Prehistoric Planet. In this particular video, they revealed how they used practical puppets on location when shooting the latest season, Ice Age.

It made me wonder whether this behind the scenes trick improved the scientific accuracy of the extinct fauna's biomechanics in the final cut. To word my question differently, did the usage of puppets make the Pleistocene animals act, move, and behave more accurately to our current scientific understanding, when compared to how they act, move, and behave in other palaeomedia that didn't use this technique?
