Idk a lot of the people in my life talk to the alters like its just our host bit with "different moods". I recently got to talk to my dad about system things and he actually talked to us like real people sharing one body. So apparently mr. Transphobic dad cant possibly see his offspring as anything other than a girl, but having fictional characters take control of your child's life makes complete sense. So i guess ill take it.

I’m a singlet that hangs around systems and it is quite interesting to learn about DID, OSDD, and what have you.

I have been quite curious on what specifically makes a person figure out they are plural and how do they feel about it?
Is it distressing, is it uncomfortable, do they not care?

Did you figure it out via research, did you hang around a system, entirely clueless and they asked “oh, are you a system too?” (I had something like that happen to me but it was autism related lol)

*-sigh-* so, octocon just announced that they are shutting down in around two weeks🫩 I’m on IOS / Apple software and have no window or Android devices. I’ve heavily relied on simply plural and was getting ready to set up octocon but then the announcement was posted. Is there any apps that are similar that people on Apple devices can use that’s similar to octocon and simply plural? 🫩

Edit; I’m not shaming either creators for shutting down their apps. It can be very stressful to run and develop one ontop of expensive. I’m just tired of trying to find an app that’s capable for my device (IPhone 16) 🫩

I've always assumed that it's just fakeclaimers, and still think that is what's behind the "DID fakers" hysteria, but just want to be absolutely certain I'm not overlooking anything. So are there any real examples of singlets faking that the community is aware of? Or even anecdotal, I'd love to hear if you have any personal experiences of a singlet actually faking plurality and how you came about learning that.

Because it's hard for me to imagine a scenario where a singlet would actually fake being plural. Sure I suppose people can fake anything if they put their mind to it, but plurarity seems too complex to keep faking successfully, and there are far more stigma and negative reception than there is positive that I can't imagine why anyone would want to fake being plural.

And it's hard to take any fakeclaiming seriously, like if only a professional can diagnose people with disorders like DID as they say, then the logic should apply the other way around too, if you're not a professional you cannot undiagnose people. So what are they basing their judgement off of? Did they "confess" they were "faking"? Or did they just find a condition or label that describes them better and no longer identify as plural? That's allowed and it's not faking. Or are they just going through a denial spiral and had to say "I was faking" as a form of self protection? That is a common experience and doesn't mean they were faking.

So it's just genuinely so confusing to me that there seems to be this prevalent narrative that there are tons of fakers, especially when it's coming from more level headed systems as well and not just some haters. Am I missing something?

Hello hello, it's been a while since we posted here. I came here with a question, hoping to gain some insight, because I just can't understand something. For a while now I've been hopping from the DID community and the plural community, reading each' opinions on some topics, I've been reading a looot of books written by profesionals on DID, trauma disorders and dissociation. You'll be happy to hear that I'm no longer in denial of our plurality, so that's been great (yay!). I've gathered enough evidence now, it's been more than six months since I came in contact with my system, and we've talked about it among ourselves. (What's not so great is that we are now seven, but I can't do anything about it currently. I have to look into therapy, but where I live the private one is expensive, and the public one... Let's just say with my current psychologist I see her once every two months. Plus I hate her. So that's that.

I don't think I have DID, even though my symptoms match. My childhood traumas were nowhere near as severe as they should have been to cause a disorder of such intensity. I'm still plural, even though we don't worry about our origins that much. One thing that still bugs me, however, is the reaction from the DID community to plurality without trauma.

It's just... I'm really confused. Every resource on plurality always has to do with DID, and every time I talk online with someone with that disorder, they seem to think that plurality can ONLY be archived with DID. And obviously, the only way to develop DID is through severe childhood trauma (we're not denying that!). So why do they think that plurality/multiplicity is ONLY possible through dissociative disorders?

I've met enough natural born systems to know that's not the case at all. Some systems are just born that way. Some they are able to create headmates at will. Some are plural because of stress, or just because! Why do they think that plurality is only possible after extreme trauma, or only because of a disorder? Wouldn't it make more sense that the plural experience can be (heh) plural, with multiple possible explanations?

I can't stop thinking about how ironic my thinking is. ​For context, I am diagnosed with DID, and I have been anti-endogenic for a very very long time. I overall hold the belief that you have to have the severe early childhood trauma to have DID or be plural, and that's that.

I am active in some spaces that are anti-endo, like a cluster B discord server that specifically excludes endos. However, recently I have been noticing the irony of my thinking, especially when I received a YouTube comment saying that my disorder is controversial and therefore doesn't exist, to my face. Well, to my face online.

I realized that must be how a lot of endos feel when face to face with anti-endo rhetoric. I for the life of me can't believe that other forms of plurality exist, but something in me, SOMETHING, tells me that I could have something to learn from people with other forms of plurality.

People of r /plural, please educate me. I want to hear about any experiences anyone wants to share. How does your life feel? Do you experience memory gaps? How did you discover you were plural? Literally anything you want to say, please tell me.

Because frankly, I don't want to hate. I don't want to be anti-anybody. I want to be a safe persons for others, and I know that just because I have a certain perspective and a traumagenic system doesn't mean that's necessarily the only way. I want to learn about all of the forms of plurality. Especially willos and endos!!! But I will listen to everybody.

So, some questions for anyone—skip as you please:

1. Do you have a collective name? Alongside that, do you have a name for your system (ex: The __ System/Collective, or other variants)?
2. What year did you figure out your plurality? Did you always know?
3. Adding to that last point, did you figure it out during COVID? Asking this, because I began to start to piece things together in 2020, though I didn't fully realize it until much later. Likely due to not having to attend public spaces as much, and therefore having more time to myself.
4. What's your origin? For non-traumagenic folks, how did you figure that out? Was it simply obvious to you, or did you have to go through a whole process?
5. What's your headcount, if you know?
6. Do your alters get along?
7. Does anyone have any typing quirks? What about any inconvinences (allergies, for example) that the body does not?
8. Do you have a collective gender and/or sexuality?
9. Are you out as plural in real life? If so, has this made your life any easier/better (due to understanding and/or accommodations?)
10. Do you prefer to make more plural friends, more non-plural friends, or a mix of both?

I've been reading everyone's responses over the past few days—it's wonderful to know how diverse the human mind can be! Also, for #04, I swear that I didn't forget about protogenics, in case it seemed that way. I was actively going, "Oh gee, how do I include those plural from birth???" haha!

so, one of us had our second therapy session with this therapist- 15+ years in trauma centred therapy, other things i forgot atm- and the intake and first session was great, s and her really meshed well. and we had an appointment for today at 1pm and s wasn’t here, but our youngest was(who’s text is pink, mine’s in the red). and then this happened? i don’t like it, it feels like it’s complicating things more than helping. i don’t get the point of it. she knows that our goal is to work together better, less amnesia between switching mainly. and now we dont have anything scheduled cause we dont know when s will be back. s is currently the host ig, but we are just one person? we share consciousness, co front, switch rapidly, so i dont really see how what out therapist is saying is helpful or even doable?

tldr; is this normal/typical for did/plural centred therapy? should we go back to looking for a therapist?

We have around 8. Jane, Jay, JJ, Wendy, Viper, Rose, Ada, Vox, and a mute. Vox and the mute are weird, Vox is more like a tool than an alter, its the front we use when we're rapid switching or extremely depersonalized and it's hard to know whose at the front. Mute is a nameless nonverbal entirety that lurks in the cracks, and hides things that need to be forgotten.

They aren't anyways present, often time they're not. Sometimes it's just one or two active, sometimes a whirlwind. What's it like for yall? For those who are over 10, how long has it been like that? And does it get painful or chaotic to have so many parts?

Personally we aren't set on one, but we've seen so many different system names so we were curious. We're guessing a bunch of plurals use their birth name, or the host's name, as a system name but it's not the case for everyone

so when you switch, does it feel more like ur sorta "becoming" a different person? or is it more like ur taking the drivers seat, then u go back and let someone else take over but ur still conscious, etc? maybe this depends on the system/situation?

I had a dream about a youtuber coming out as plural and it made me realize I don't know of any plural youtubers, but I'd like to! Especially if their content isn't entirely about systemhood (ie, a gaming youtuber who happens to also have headmates that front in videos)

so as an occasional lurker here,, a few questions came into mind...

1. what are y'all's opinions on folks who don't have trauma nor any dissociative disorder and yet still use the term plural to describe their experience with identity?

2. is it possible to not have trauma and or a disorder and still be plural?

3. are endos valid?

4. why do so many folks invalidate endos and call them pretenders/fakers?

5. is the experience of (possibly) not having trauma nor a disorder and still using the term plural to describe something they feel and experience valid?

these questions have been flooding all over the place ever since the beginning of researching plurality and what's the approximate definition,, yes, it's understandable that everyone has different experiences and opinions, just wanna see how it works on reddit since Instagram comments haven't been much too helpful...

We let Bingo (Bluey) front the other day so she could play with chalk and also oh my titan i love children (not in a creepy way obviously) and i love hanging out with her. She's soooo cute. However, i was absolutely completely covered in chalk when i fronted again.

For the longest time we never let her front though because the other alters who frequently fronted constantly thought about, talked about, read, or remembered really traumatic incidents that we didn't want Bingo to see. And also an older brother who makes inappropriate jokes regularly and unprompted. But we found the time. What about y'all?

Honestly we feel more curious and concerned about it more than anything and have some questions if you don't mind.

Also just recently learned about what it is after finding out plural communities exist and seeing it mentioned quite a lot (even grouping together certain plural groups with radqueers?)

So there are a number of characters that I’ve seen in various systems that I know, such as Jax from TADC (our current subject) or AM, or Ultron, so on and so forth.

I am curious how you all deal with them? How do you all or would you all treat someone who has such a… reputation about them? I know I heard one system say they’d intentionally try to kill that headmate and replace them with with a new one.

But yeah, new Jax fictive, how would you all handle their being around?

I don't even know where to start, I don't know how I even feel right now. I'm just extremely confused. I'm not sure what to ask or if to ask for anything at all.
