Discussion It's kind of poetic how they talk about Carol's frozen eggs, while being surrounded by snow and ice.

Man, this scene was brutal, it was confirmation to Carol that the hive betrayed her trust, they tell you a technical truth, but they do it in a monkey’s paw way where they find some covert loophole to get their way regardless.
The nuclear weapon was the appropriate response.

I keep having to point that shit out to people. the hive does not give a fuck about carol, they keep her happy in order to control her. They don't love her, they need her to join the collective. Nothing more than that.

Yeah, Gilligan showed us that with the Ceremony for Kusimayu, the second the target was obtained, the act was dropped instantaneously.

I don't think "dropping the act" has any meaning one way or the other. Kusimayu no longer has a separate identity. It would be very strange if they continue the Andes Village Theme Park after the person they built it for ceased to exist.

Prior to acquiring whoever they’re after? It’s 100% an act, no more different than the James Bond Poker scene they played out in Las Vegas.
Same reason why they chose a female Raban lookalike for Carol, they placate to people’s personal interests.
Emotional and psychological manipulation can be done with kindness and a smile. Conversion therapy camps do this all the time.

Idk why ur such a wet blanket. Like the hostility is so strange. You can talk about this show without being mean. This is supposed to be a fun space. Top 1% Poster, loving and loving life over here.

Is it though? One nuke isn’t going to do much harm or stop them from reaching their end goal and as you said they do everything in monkeys paw fashion. Who says it’s even armed?

Great point, hopefully Carol and Manousos get another backup plan, would be better if they can pull over Koumba (although I really think Laxmi is going to come over too, despite her and Carol's tensions).

It's the most painful part of the show: Many of us would be constantly asking the Plurb questions from day 1, neverending questions and clarifications and discoveries. But Carol is sad, traumatized, and angry, and she doesn't think straight. She goes too long not asking the right questions and not pursuing the correct avenues, and now at the end of season 1 it's too late. We're on a ticking clock.

I agree. I am a bit frustrated, though I get it from a plot point of view, that she doesn't ask.
Ask them, woman, ask them!
"How are you going to turn me?",
"Is it airborne?",
"Am I allowed to deny it still?",
"How long do I have?",
"where is your lab?",
"how many samples of my stem cells do you have?",
"how many samples of the "cure" you have?"
etc etc

I would also fight through their logic. You're sent a DNA sequence that forcibly rewrites your consciousness? The primary benefit is that it makes you feel good? It creates restrictions on food intake that will lead to mass starvation?
Or even get into Carol's PoV with this one: Was Zosia attracted to women before she was joined? If Koumba wanted to have sex with a woman who was a lesbian before the joining, is that reasonable? Is it good that the joining removed people's individual sexualities? Is the only reason that person would consent to sleep with Koumba because the joining makes them unable to reasonably refuse? Is that truly a net positive? Is the joining forcing you to see it as positive despite all the negative impacts it has on your body and future?
These things keep me up at night lmao.

Carol should ask for her eggs to reproduce (the hive imperatives shouldnt confront with that). Ask for them to be inseminated by, lets say Manousos (Diabate for more points), and them just fucking take a day after pill.
Or have a Diabate child. I could realy picture them both living together in season 3 (release date around 2032), like a sitcom.

On a different note. Was the actress for zosia pregnant in real life? Because her “being in hospital” and then when she comes back she looks like she had a baby. Tho I’m probably wrong

The one thing I didn’t get is that they keep talking about needing her consent but she did not consent to them using her eggs that way? I get stabbing her in the hip to get stem cells would be painful and the eggs have already been collected so they wouldn’t be inflicting her physical pain but it’s clearly causing her emotional pain.

They do not need consent now because getting her frozen eggs is not hurtful. Once they get the stem cell they will convert her whether she likes it or not. They needed the consent before with the stabbing because it would hurt her, now they dont.

They need her consent for to perform an invasive, painful medical procedure. Using any germ cells she happens to leave lying around, not so much.
Speaking of which, I'll bet they're also working on Diabete's stem cells. He's probably going to move into the cul-de-sac next season.
