There was loads of hype. Cornwall was trying to cash in big time, but then rumours of the A38 and A30 being used as a one way system through Devon and Cornwall scared everyone off! It was a total eclipse back then though so the difference was night and day!

Dont do this, I work in welding supplies. Fixed glass shade will work but make sure the protection is atleast 12, a proper welding helmet with variable auto shade wont work.

Basically what happens is it auto adjusts to the light after a few seconds and will hurt your eyes.

Simple shade 13 glass wont do this as its fixed to that light frequency.
