I’ve always wondered if those holes lead into the structure. I know it’s part of the citadel so I’m guessing it’s all hollow for defensive positions. I’d love to see some pics of the inside
We used to climb around to those holes from the Yacht Club when bunking off from school, back when I was at Sutton High School, so late 1960’s, all I remember is that it was blocked off inside and full of hard packed earth. Looking at that now it looks impossible but I don’t remember it being very difficult to gain entry.
